It is in Perth.

You mean the second sentence?

I usw a keyboard called Microsoft SwiftKey on my iPhone. The question mark is buried under a separate popup menu. I have to press and hold the full stop key, then slide my finger right to bring up the question mark. When I'm in a hurry I some times fail to press and hold long enough for it to register.
What does usw mean? Is that a new word?

I know Easts say they want to represent Logan and Ipswich, but the reality is their base is in an inner city suburb of Brisbane that doesn't remotely relate culturally to Logan or Ipswich and everyone knows it. They are in an awkward spot despite their riches...

Their Brisbane City location and name is taken by the Broncos (NRL want the west). The Tiger is taken by Wests. So their name and location is useless in the NRL.

The Jets are the only side synonymous with the Western corridor but they don't have the cash. So you either need Nick Livermore to pull together the finances, or the Tigers partner with the Jets (Tigers provide the financial muscle and the Jets provide the juniors, the name and the connection with the people of the west).

I'm not interested in relitigating the argument about market representation and saturation of the suburban clubs in Brisbane for the billionth time, but it's pretty weird that you can recognise these impacts now but seemed totally incapable of it when discussing the Dolphins entry into the NRL lol.

The only sensible way forward for existing clubs in Brisbane to join the NRL was always for them to take on neutral branding and making other minor changes so they could legitimately represent a broader audience, and there wouldn't be any genuine need for a third Brisbane side in the NRL so soon had the NRL forced the Dolphins to make said changes.

Brisbane Tigers have clubs in Rochedale South, Springwood, Yarrabilba and Flagstone. People who play for these clubs would identify with the Tigers.

They've trademarked Brisbane Bengals and Brisbane Wolves. I'd like them to take on the name "South Brisbane Scorpions".

haha, donkey would be up for a fisting me thinks
I think with a lot of people would, since you dribble too much nonsense and constantly piss take for the sake of an imaginative nrl licence going to perf ahead of other areas that play in a way more competitive lower grade league, maybe you just need a good fisting every once in a while....not that there's anything wrong with that

People of Ipswich and Logan will always see them as the inner city club they are though. Unless they move from Langlands to Springfield which is unlikely

The reason I agree with the NRL's strategy in SEQ (Dolphins north, Broncos city, Western Corridor and Titans South) is because I would imagine much further down the track these clubs and the NRL will push for a 30k stadium in Redcliffe and Ipswich (much, much further down the track of course) with the big derbies at Suncorp.

Then the NRL IMO opinion would have the perfect balance in SEQ of blanket coverage without stepping over the fine line of saturation.

Having the Dolphins be that northern team and the Jets (for example) be that Western team makes it easier for the locals to identify with and get on board.

We have to remember that SEQ is more than Brisbane so this isn't Brisbane 3, it's SEQ 4 and part of a bigger strategy for the region.

To your point, any Western and Southern Brisbane team would still play all its games at Suncorp (for the foreseeable future anyway)

So it's hard to see what point of difference to the Broncos they are offering in those regions, and the Dolphins seem to have captured the "not Broncos" fanbase so far.

Not necessarily, the Ipswich Council was working with the state government to pledge a stadium for the Jets if their bid got up.

If they played at Suncorp 100% they'd still be the third best attended and viewed team in the NRL helping pull the averages and finances of the league up for everyone else.

there is no guarantee of that.. people are just assuming another Brisbane team will replicate the Dolphins. It's only been one year for the Dolphins anyway, give them a few more season before considering another Brisbane club.

They won't replicate the Dolphins due to diminishing returns, but they will be strongly attended and viewed. The NRL knows it and the broadcasters know it.

Besides, the reason to do it isn't for their crowds and viewership in year 1. The reason to do it is so that in 50 years, the NRL has grown with the expanding SEQ market and kept itself as the # 1 game forever in all corners of our region and at the same time suffocated any opportunity our competitors had to grow.

The Lions and Reds don't know how good they've had it since the SL War, it's a crime we've given them so much air. Good to see the NRL focussed on squeezing the life out of them now and growing our code. And yes, growing with an expanding heartland is growing the game.

For years the "expansionists" of LU predicted doom and gloom for the Dolphins.

Dolphins entered the competition and proved them wrong on all fronts.

Now they're doing the same for Brisbane 3.

But if anyone dares to play devil's advocate and question the viability of a Perth-based team then the same sooks throw a hissyfit.

Adding more teams just to try and suffocate other codes is a bad strategy. Sydney has 9 teams but it hasn't stopped the Swans from being the most attended and highest sponsored club in the city. The Swans success has little to do with taking over areas where there are no NRL clubs and very much to do with RL's failure to appeal to the upper and upper middle classes. You could put another 3 teams in Brisbane and it won't have much of an effect on the Lions. The QLD media might have more RL stories than before but the Lions won't lose support, nor will kids stop playing AFL. It's just very fanciful to think more RL teams and more RL content will fight off other codes. This is why the NRL desperately needs to get into new markets because trying to push out its competitors will never work.
