Yes but how much revenue have they made since those teams have been in the competition. I would presume that it is a lot more than their outgoings relative to the Suns and Giants. That is what really comes down to.

I agree that GWS was stupid because they already had a Sydney team and Gold Coast struggle to maintain any professional teams seemingly. So I agree with you.

Nevertheless the analogy of the Suns or Giants would be us putting another side in Melbourne. I don’t see how that is Perth.

One last thing to consider: AFL teams are a lot more expensive to run than a League side. The only side in which we would be spending an equivalent amount would be on a PNG side if the government flips.

PNG folds without government money - NRL doesn't care. They get a bag for as long as it lasts, then get tigers to replace them.

So far the NRL hasn't been offered a bag to take on a PNG side. In fact no policy or proposal has been made by the government at all so far and it's all just media talk, speculation, and "leaked" backroom discussions.

If the media is to be believed (everything they say should be taken with a massive grain of salt) the government is considering an A$600mil pledge for investment into PNG that would include funding to support a NRL side that is ostensibly a PNG side and some other RL programs on the ground in PNG. However, as things stand the majority of that A$600mil probably won't go to RL programs at all, and there's no suggestion that the NRL it's self would receive payment from the government for accepting that side into the league.

In other words, if current reporting is to be believed the government is considering helping to fund a PNG/Pasifika NRL side as part of a larger program in PNG. It has not a agreed to do so, nor has it offered a sweetener, financial or otherwise, to the NRL to accept their part in the deal.

you're really clinging tightly to this statement made by the WWOS guy aren't you?

Simon Fordham is an important figure at Ch9. He spoke on behalf of the company. Whether you like it or not, it's evidence that disproves your baseless predictions.

You don't like it when you're confronted with facts that don't support your beliefs. Neither does Dane and the Perth crew.

Shane Richardson wants another QLD side - who would have thought.

Seriously it’s embarassing to hear people so scared of another sport. Fumbleball would love us to put another side in Queensland - it shows we’re terrified of them.

If you're so worried about Perth then give them the Raiders.

'We think there’s room for another team here in Queensland,'

wow thats a massive endorsement lol
Meanwhile the bloke actually making the decisions said:

"Perth has to be high on the table now, especially with a premier so passionate about wanting to have a team there. They warrant serious consideration. If you've got a government that's going to get 100 per cent behind you, you've got a run-up start. "

and the clubs continually vote for Perth as the priority.

Brisbane 3 was just 1 percentage point below Perth in the players poll. So much for your claim that no one wants a club in Brisbane!

You left out this bit from Simon Fordham statment:

“The more games we can get played featuring Queensland teams in Southeast Queensland, the better.

What happens when the WA Gov is elected out of office?

You and your mates have ranted about the impending doom that could happen when Albo is voted out. The same applies with Perth. There's a chance that the next WA Gov jumps in bed with fumbleball and ditches RL.

The WA Gov's support isn't very reliable, BTW. The press release from Venueswest basically said the NRL should put a team in Perth to help the WA Gov make money from tourism.

Sure and fumbleball will eat it up.

It has no bearing on them at all and you have said to everyone and to them that we can’t compete with you.

Why are you so obsessed with expanding into fumbleball cities?

If the only reason to expand into Perth is so you can feel less insecure about AwFuL having a footprint in more metropolitan areas then LOL!

Nah they agree that afl is a national sport whilst nrl is 2 states only

The expansionists say we need a Perth-based team to be national and not viewed as a "two state game". If 25 years of the Melbourne Storm hasn't changed the perception that rugby league is a "two state game" then I'd like PR to explain why he thinks the West Coast Pirates will be the solution.

Evidence of what? that some guy from channel 9 made a statement. I never denied some guy from channel 9 made a statement about another QLD team. You on the other hand are dismissing the fact that in a poll most club CEO's and Chairmen voted for Perth to be team 18. V'landys has also expressed support for Perth in the media.

Didn't most of these morons get upset that Gallop and co let ch9 run the game? Now they are actively wanting ch9 to run the game.

I seem to remember the then head of ch9 talking about how a second Brisbane team was worth a lot of money from ch9. Guess what? If we've learnt anything its not to expect anything from ch9.
