Literally the call for Brisbane2 was to fill suncorp every week lol.
Also Brisbane2 should have been a club that appealed to the whole of Brisbane that werent Broncos fans, Dolphins are not that otherwise there wouldnt be calls for Brisane3 already as Dolphins have done nothing to represent the South/SW corridor. Theya re the team the Broncos wanted, not what the game needed!

Donkey has quoted two of the games leaders over the last ten years specifically identifying the need for Brisbane2 to cover the SW area, then they went with a Northern club. Go figure!

So dolphins play 9 games at Suncorp, 3 at Kayo, and apparently thats not enough, if a Perfh team got the nod, and played 9 games at Optus and 3 hbf park, would that sound fair? Similar, reality is it would be swapped around

There's only one bid that ticks all of those boxes. Brisbane Firehawks. Hence the reason Abdo told them they're still a chance of being included as the 18th team. They'll be the fall back option if Ch9 and Foxtel say no to Perth and NZ2. Let's hope the game is in a strong enough position to not let the broadcasters dictate where the next team is from.

Turns out the Dolphins added fans to the game.

I'd prefer it if the PNG team was based permanently in Port Moresby so it can properly represent Papuans. There's no reason the players couldn't live safely and affluently in a gated community.

What makes you think there wouldn't be talk of a third Brisbane team if the Dolphins played all of their games out of Lang Park?

The Jets and Tigers have ambitions of entering the NRL. V'landys spoke about a fifth Queensland team before the Dolphins won the 17th licence. The broadcasters want more content in SEQ because it boosts their ratings and commercial return.

That was before I learnt how dreadful the ratings for the Eagles and Dockers are in Perth.

Why put a team in a Perth that will add negligible value to the broadcast rights?

The only reason I supported your argument for expanding into Adelaide and Perth was because you convinced me it will make the game richer. The terrible ratings for the Eagles and Dockers in Perth and Storm in Melbourne don't support your argument.
