Only way this would be a good business decision is if Aus/USA is going to be guaranteeing multiple billion dollars worth of investment. Pretty much have to underwrite the team for the next 50 years (would be fantastic for our crowd averages if they built a 50k stadium in Port Moresby though, tickets would have to be almost free though).

If I was the NRL I would be saying $3 Billion for a 30 year license for the team. Sounds like a lot, but Australia already spends $600 million on Foreign Aid to PNG per year. $100 million a year is nothing between the two countries for quite a bit of soft power diplomacy.

Biden has real bad issues back home according to the House, allegations hs family received large sums of money from foreign nationals. Guess he'll have a few questions when he gets back.

Gee I don't agree at this stage for a PNG side based in Cairns , although I understand the reasoning.
Much rather an Oz based club ,and the Govt money spent on PNG grassroots RL and sporting facilities.

People are ignoring the essential point that the us will support this bid as they are aiming to encircle China and don’t want China spreading their influence further

even if it sounds like a joke the us is preparing for a war with China if it has too

I live up near Cairns and completely agree with you. So many other places would be better and more deserving - such as Perth, 2nd NZ team, and then Adelaide and another SE QLD team would be great.
