There seems to be an awful lot of egotistical nonsense coming out of the Bears camp as per usual. I`d be far more concerned that Daniel Dickson didn`t know and that the Perth bid seem to be doing all the running (2 dozen meetings with the W.A. Gov`t) without North Sydney being involved once.
If Cumins can show the NRL that he can raise the $30m, which he seems confident and in a wealthy state like W.A. is a pittance, I fear that will be the end of the Bears involvement, certainly on any of their terms, with the W.A. bid.
V'landys wants Bears, logo, history, basically the branding, he wants the good news story, and the reconciliation that they were a club destroyed by a failing merger, that probably shouldn't have happened really, anyway he is pushing the bears brand, location is pending, Roger Cook is happy as long as there is a team for WA, he don't give 2 shits if that team is WA born and bred or not, content is king, getting extra tourism, by live sport, and also saying that he got it over the line for the people is his only thought, and V'landys will deliver them instant success, much like the dolphins have been (maybe not on field success) but definitely flattering media, aswell as promotion... its all Murdock driven propaganda... don't think for a second that the arlc care about Perth as some metro city they want to conquer, when/if this goes balls up expect Adelaide Bears to be in the headlines before Cumins can sneeze

That’s your reading of it, the other way to read it is cumins comes out and says we need some direction from nrl so we can get backers on board, next day Vlandys announces Perth is firmly in their plans and by 2030.

his bears comments was in response to a question directly asked him by the Sydney journo.
My take on it as well.
I expect just as Western Australians have gotten behind their fumbleball club and made it one of the wealthiest (incredibly wealthy) in the national fumbleball league so they will get behind their own Rugby League club and make it one of the biggest clubs in our competition. We can`t underestimate West Australians` parochialism and their desire to show the other states up.
I`m expecting big things out of W.A., lot of money over there and corporates love the combative nature of Rugby League, they`re going to be a wealthy club.

yep, the perth bid consortium clearly have a preference to go it alone.
If they can:

show the $30mill surety
give the NRl confidence about player pathways
show the revenue business case

then they wont need the Bears.
WA govt has said they'll support whoever wins the bid so thats not an influencer.

The Bears really need to front up with something to convince the consortium now, or hope that the perth bid cant meet the criteria above and therefore need them.

Vlandys can want the Bears all he likes but if the Perth people dont want them or need them then he cant force it. Imagine if he told Perth you have to have the Bears or no club, the fallout would be massive and it would be doomed from day1.

I wonder if Puddy will reappear now, or if he will bury the hatchet with Cumins and make that bid irresistible?

Perth is still going to have to hook up with some NSW or Qld club for players pathways and development, the same as Storm does. So it might as well be the Bears. It won’t make any difference to the people of Perth whether they get 11 home games or 12. Take the Bears players and any money. Embrace the 2k - 5k away fans you will get a Sydney games (maybe 10k for finals). Start with some history and tradition, even if only half hearted.

What ?, the Bear logo, their colours red and black (look at the Perth Reds Super League 1997) and one game at NSO ?, yeah okay, go back to Brokevale buddy
Plus the unspoken one that the Bears treat as such a given they don’t even discuss it- continuing to hold the North Sydney district.

If it’s true they’ve backed down on ownership demands, that’s great, but in the past the number of games at NSO has been suggested to be between 2-4 and it was only recently that 4-6 games at NSO was being pushed by the Bears as part of their Bears regional travelling circus idea. It’s on their website - https://www.northsydneybears.com.au/a-new-era-our-concept-for-the-nrl/

The idea of any games at NSO should be knocked back by WA. The Sydney-based fans will get so many opportunities to see them without taking 1 of WA’s 12 home games to Sydney.

yep for sure. Ideally a club in NSW cup and in Qlnd cup. Maybe an opportunity for Blacktown if Manly go it alone or a return of Mounties or a chance for Newtown to get all grades happening again? Theres plenty of possible suitors and a lot will change over the next few years as NRL clubs increasingly run their own systems and drop other secondary pathway clubs.

Again Im not opposed and can see benefits, but it cant be NSFC in Perth. It has to be a new club called Perth Bears ran by Perth people.

So we are going of Joel Gould word and research, that the All NRL clubs are against PNG and that Perf is Numero Uno..., and that Wayne Bennett is good to go all thumbs up, please he'll retire by the end of the next souths contract if that's where he is going

Agree, a pre season trial at NSO is all that should happen. If it commercially makes sense and engages a Perth Bears membership in Sydney then Im ok with us taking one home game to Allianz a year against Manly during rivalry round. Playing a game in a 10k stadium with no corporate facilities smacks of nostalgia with no business sense.

To be honest your club really is lucky to exist at all, if arko wasn't a manly boy, sea Eagles would have been long gone

Remember 2018, there was calls to boot them outta the comp or relocate them, but dessy in his wisdom came up with the best line ever (smart man that dessy) "they'll be no team north of the harbour" which all the f**kas in the papers and Murdock media ate up, then they moved quickly to the perf tigers or crounulla-not-in-sydneys

94% of club chairmen and CEO's didnt want PNG in the comp above other options. Thats pretty overwhelming even youd have to agree!

Hahaha manly go it alone, that happened before... its like deja vu... they can't go alone, they are inept at junior level, hence the blacktown hook up
