Dolphins had $100m in the bank when they produced all their paperwork.

Brisbane Easts have huge amounts and missed out

PNG have the govt cash.

It seems to come in you need a load of assets or Govt support to ensure you are stable.

I have said many times overall, I see expansion in this country as being poor. So many teams have gone under in many sports.

So I have no problem with the bar being high

How does paying $20m to the other teams help stop a bid from going under? Wouldn't that $20m have been better used by the team?

Yeh, who'd have thought when the question was ' do you want to pay something for nothing' and the answer of 'no thanks' would cause so much upset!
Having written the Dolphins bid Freshwater probably said ' well it wasnt needed last time'.
Here's an idea NRL, if somethings a criteria of the tender make it mandatory in the submission, radical I know!
Love arguments based on the words “probably” and the other one I like is “guess”.

Well maybe if you got in his ear and told him how things actually worked, he wouldn't have fkd up, I've told you plenty of times here, for several years, and counting, it's all about sureing up the club ceos votes, you get that, then you'll get the licence, then you can go and start doing all the other crap that needs to be paid for, he did it all ass backwards, started conjuring up money for the running of said club, and had fk all left to acquire a licence, one he obviously was told he never needed to pay for a licence, absolutely terrible advice, whoever told him that should be taken out back and shot
Also it's been reported that Cummins has zero relationship with Vlandy's, not even a coffee or chat. If true what did he expect? He's not handled the politics of this well at all

Nz2 isn’t png or Perth

Their bid stacks up without needing govt investment
Go and read the breakdown of costs for the pngs bid of aus govt 600mil, there's a percentage of it going straight to the clubs as a sweetener (a licence fee)

What? On here lol
This is tricky..
Do you think that this is a place for serious people?
And the the serious people here ( pause for laughter) with these serious discussions ( pause for Applause and laughter) have never seriously discussed the biggest Rugby nation on the planet having another NRL side??
G it's settled then lol
Strange how all the " serious " conversation led to the only dead bid....lol
I'm talking by the NRL or media. Zero conversation about NZ2 being in the running for 18 or 19 and no real committment to them being team 20 at this point. But yeh they must be super valuable to the NRL. I'm sure that crowd funding model has convinced the NRL of their viability lol

If a license fee is being applied to all then the pickings have become very slim for a 20 team comp Id suggest.

You're a sad , bitter little pom that lives in a city completely void of Rugby league and the recent news means that isn't changing any time soon.
Hull Kr never even looked close either .
I get it.
Take a breath.
NZ 2 is an absolute certainty.

2 1/2 years ago lol. Didn thtye also talk up Melbourne2 at that time :)
Zero chatter during this whole process about NZ.
They MAY have been in line for club 20 (I really hope they still are) but with a $20mill license fee imposition are they still? is anyone?

Do the North Sydney Bears have any money or are they asset rich like the Dolphins?

If yes could an opportunity of the Bears playing on the Central Coast as a standalone club open up with the NRL demanding a $20 million licence fee putting bids off?

They own seven other licensed premises including another leagues club in near the Gold Coast

The Sydney clubs wouldn’t support a central coast team even though is a good idea in theory
