Simon was better than Taylor IMHO. Firstly, he played for a few season, not just one. Secondly, his ballplaying was excellent, and his defence was good. General kicking game was second to none. Taylor was good, but only played one year. He belongs to the Norths side of the era you seek.
Sterling/Kenny aside, we've never had a decent long serving player in the halves. Tony Melrose was great in 80-81, Jason Bell did some good things in his time, and then there's Simon and Taylor. Others, like Dave Penna, had the job for only a year (like Taylor). Some Eels fans will mention Stu Galbraith, but only after being lobotomised.
Re Dymock, you may be right, but he's down the list on what others contributed to the Eels.
Other Eels to consider - you'd have to think about Nathan Cayless for longevity only, and maybe David Liddiard. This is where it gets grey, though. I'm pretty confident with my pack - Dean Pay made the legends side because he was current, but like Cayless doesn't really crack it in my squad.
