tbh I'm not totally sure Haddin was out......

The sound and the snicko were both after the ball had gone.

Seems like even most Aussies are accepting it though so *shrug*. It didn't look right to me.

It was a wrong decision, but they're not going to reverse it. The team needs to take some lessons from this game and move on.

I am genuinely not sure. I swear you can see the mark on Haddin's bat before the ball passes it. But then what was the sound?

I can't remember who was in the box (Atherton maybe) but they said the same thing - the mark on the bat definitely is already there before the ball goes past.

If we were bowling I would expect that be out too. But I'm still skeptical.

Great test match. A lot closer than I thought it would be, to the Aussie's credit. If this is a taste of things to come, it'll be a truly exceptional series.

I am not sure England didn't deserve to win, but Australia can feel a little hard done by, probably. I have absolutely no issue with Broad not walking and I don't understand how any Australian could, if they're honest with themselves. But that was proper (and characteristically) atrocious from Dar. And I'm not so sure about Haddin.

Yeah that hot spot is basically meaningless because you couldn't see the ball actually make the hot spot on the bat. There are invariably several pre-existing "smudges" on the bat.

A snicko and a sound that are consistent with each other in being a couple of frames too late hardly prove that it was an edge.

For the conspiracy theorists out there, the TV graphic showing the score changed to reflect that Haddin had been given out well before the third umpire had even seen the first replay.

Honest mistake or.....?

Good to see at least one of our resident soap dodgers is capable of not being a complete douche after a win. :p

Um, no. The batsman always turns his head to follow the ball whether he hits it or not. You can't use that to argue Haddin knew he got a feather touch.

Disagree.

I must admit I did notice this at the time and found it a bit bizarre.

The third umpire doesn't have snicko, he made his decision based on the hot spot and the audio.

Personally I think the front on hot spot showed it best, there's already a hot spot on the ball (from when it bounced I assume) but if you can ignore the ball you see a hot spot appear on the side of the bat as the ball goes past. The side-on shows it also but is a bit more questionable because of the small size of the nick and there already being varying colours because it shows the side/back of the bat.

On Haddin's dismissal, have we heard from the horses mouth if he nicked it or not?

The way he accepted it tells me he did, and there wasn't much or any complaints from his team mates on the decision either

It was a great test match, lots of ups and downs and controversy

Only thing better (in terms of theatre) would have been if we won it or lost by 1 run

This test basically confirmed what we already knew, we can compete in the bowling department but are worlds behind in batting. Agar and Hughes saved us in the first innings and Haddin in the 2nd. Our top 6 was an overall failure and in reality we were 120 short in the first innings given England’s score and only then it was because of a rear guard action.

It was encouraging to see such fight and a close result but the batting needs to be fixed.

The look on his face tells me he didn't think he hit it.
He was filthy as he walked off.

Firstly i thought Hadds was out, however i dont know how any one can determine he was out from the evidence provided from both hot spot or snicko on this occassion.I have never been convinced of the accuracy of snicko, infact i think it is a crock of shit, hotspot i believe is more accurate but not infallible. How the third ump came to a decision on inconclusive evidence and ignored the benefit of the doubt is a concern that needs addressing.Again i still believe Hadds was out,and finally what a great game, well done to all involved.

lol. No they don't.

He had a definite look of resignation on his face during the review, and while an umpire cannot use that as evidence, but it does tend to agree with all the evidence snicko and hotspot had already provided.

Can't believe some people still arguing he didn't.
