Is Ponting loosing his reflexes in the field? He is dropping catches that for the past decade he's held like it was nothing at all. Might need to get out of the cordon. He's still a great outfielder, but as you get on the slips becomes harder.

North gets a dodgy 1st test wicket but oh well. Now we have to get rid of Steyn none of this MCG stuff against.

Do we enforce the follow on, if available?

I am completely undecided.

If we bowl I have no faith that our bowlers can take another 10 wickets without leaving us with an awkward 150 run chase on the last day on a potentially difficult pitch.

If we bat again then I also have no faith that our bowlers can take another 10 Saffa wickets under the pressure of trying to win a test match.

After the debacle during our summer, when we were in winning positions in the first two tests, my confidence is shot.

Good luck Ponting.

I doubt it, if we bowl them out this session with a lead of about 250 then bat today and a session and a bit tomorrow leaving about 130-140overs to get them out

lets take another couple of wickets - then we'll worry about the follow on. Can't keep giving guys like AB chances.

Haddin keeping was just fine until that moment. Has been very tidy and taken some very good catches. He just needs to have better judgement when a catch will be a sitter for 1st slip.

Whats the weather forecast like? That will have alot to do with Australia's decision if they have the option of enforcing the follow-on.

the amount of edges going thru about 4th slip area is giving the proteas easy runs and now after they have scored about 40 runs thru there ponting now moves himself there.

if it was me i'd bat again next as this pitch could be tough it you had to get 150 to win on the 1st day. Looks a lot like a old SCG pitch. Bat again and it the weather looks ok try to get a lead of 500 and have 1 day and half to bowl them out.
