Why pick a "decent bowler". The more I see this pitch the more we have stuffed up not picking McGain..and Warne agrees (Telegraph today). I hate going in with 4 quicks!

I always pick a spinner as the fact of the matter is is there is seam movement, there will be spin and St Africa hate leg spinners. They have the 3 frontliners spot on with Johnson, Siddle and Hilfenhaus (by far our best swing bowler). If North was at 6 this summer the result may have been different!

Actually this team, with the exception of McDonald, is as close to spot on as the selectors have picked in more than a year.

Would be nice to have Clark and Lee in there but not much we can do about that.

I'd shuffle the batting order a fraction though.

Hughes
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
North
Hussey
Haddin
Johnson
Dougy/McGain
Siddle
Hilfenhaus

Given the current scoreboard I doubt they're regretting much at the moment.

considering we have shown a complete lack of abilty to put teams to the sword when we have had them in this situation , I would say they will regret not having four specialist bowlers.

without a doubt the craziest descion i have seen in a long time from the selectors.

I do agree actually. The bloodnut might be a 'handy' cricketer but he's hardly a match-winner with either bat or ball.

Actually Dougie or McGain would have been no11, but other than that its probably not a bad order

I think Siddle has the first wicket of the day, gets McKenzie LBW they refer it for some reason and Fox lose coverage!

Good ball by Siddle now he needs a bit more consistency between those good balls to build the pressure.
