Hilfy leaves Siddle stranded from making his 50 now :) Pretty much what I wanted us to do at the start of the day get about 450 leaving SA 4 and a bit to chase it.

Ponting doesn't have confidence in the bowlers defending big totals just yet. If we had McGrath and Warne I'm sure he would have declared.

Maybe Ponting gave them a license to go out there for 5-10 overs and have a swing at it.

Has a two fold effect. Makes South Africa a little more tired and messes with their minds at the same time.

After the aussie collapse they would have expected to be out batting again already and would have been out there in a good mindset knowing the aussies gave in easy and they have a better chance at winning. Now they have something to think about and don't go out their with as much wind in their sails.

It also messes with the concentration of the openers, having only 10 minutes to get ready rather than 45

Agree I feel we have gained back the momentum from SA now.

What was the go with the middle order? Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus did better with the bat than some of the batsman in the 2nd Innings. Is the wicket starting to play up now?

That was a shocker to ask for the referral live I knew it wasn't hitting and I'm usually pretty crap at predicting LBW.

Oh really???? Just a few posts i found in this thread

what a hughesless merkin .. pathetic shot .. some wonderboy ..

LMAO @ the so-called prodigy Hughes.

Yeah, I always thought Hughes was a iffy selection

It is funny that it is only NSW people who think their players have a right to play for Australia no matter how bad they are.

Way to take pnub out of context is that all you have on him? (BTW how is that bagging him?)

I can not comment on the other stuff as I have no idea where it came from. Defiantly not me. Was it even Victorians?

My contribution to your peice was also taken out of contex. I did say I would not bad Hughes until he failed over a longer period than one innings and was not talking about him in the bit you took. More like Dougie boy and others in the past.

People are allowed to have a go at idiotic shots?

Just a hint learn to use the multi-quote function as it makes you lame attempts at trolling easier to understand even if they are wrong.

That was in response to a post criticising the selctors picking a 'bits and pieces' player (McDonald) who made a duck.

Seriously do people north of the murray share one brain?

He said no one was bagging Hughes at all, there were plenty having pot shots at him. Including yourself. And as for Bagging us north of the border, at least we all realise that Ronny isn't a test cricketers arsehole unlike all you Victorians.......

I didnt say anything about Hughes but i am no more convinced after todays innings that his a test cricketer than I was 4 days ago. I think he will be in a few years, but right now is far from it.

I think South Africa in the biggest series theyve had in a while would be quite happy to see him walking out to bat at the start of each innings.
