It's pretty obvious why Slater would be anti Steve Waugh

Because he's a sour, sore loser, that's why. He needs to get over the fact he simply wasn't playing well enough prior to his axing on the 2001 Ashes tour, yet he had the audacity to then go on Andrew Denton's show a few years later and completely bag off the person who spent more time trying to help him (Waugh) than any other player. Reminds me so much of Warne, when in commentary during the Ashes tour, rehashed the whole incident about Waugh making them wear the baggy green on the opening morning of a test match (although the Wimbledon event was going a little bit far, none of the other players objected to it)...and this is what, like, 12 years later? Again, he never got over the fact that someone had the guts to stand up to him and drop him from the side (4th test on the '99 tour of West Indies) when he was bowling crap, and then he threw a dummy spit and threatened to retire during the '99 World Cup. Waugh broke through his God-like, narcissist complex.

Back to Slats...he was averaging 47.41 before he got dumped from the team after the '96 tour of India. He should've definitely averaged more than the 42.84 average in tests and 24.07 average in ODIs he finished with.

At least my cricket team can bat and win tests matches.

You must love watching shity teams with this mess of a Convict cricket team and Parra the laughing stock of the NRL.
Derpy derp derp derp, want to talk about shitty football teams lets talk about the Pommy footy side. f**king shithouse who will be reamed by the Kiwi's in the semi's. Lunch on day one and you have declared the series. what a f**king idiotic moron you are. You should put in for a senior management role in Cricket Australia.

You will fit right in.

"You pay peanuts, you get monkeys".

You employ someone who knows nothing about cricket, and I think it's fair to say the results the side has obtained during his tenure are not a surprise.

Slats deserved to get dropped when he did, he was a mess off the field and was hardly a team player. Langer came in and didn't look back. Him,Warnie and Chappell can bag Waugh all they want but they will never be admired and respected like Waugh is.

Memo
For
M Clarke

Watson is not a top order batsmen, dispite what he tells you, results and facts do not lie.
Bat him @ 6 and find a number three.

That is all.

This. Not just his on-field form leading up to his dropping (only 5 50s in his last 24 innings before he was dropped) and his personal life with the lovely Stephanie a disaster, but regarding the 'team player' aspect, during my time at uni I remember many people share with me several unsavoury incidents they witnessed involving Slats during his time at the NSW Blues.

Langer came in and didn't look back.

Scored a century in his first innings replacing Slater at The Oval test and became a shoe in as Hayden's new test opening partner the following summer

100% agreed.

Given that Beefy Botham is also out in Australia commentating the Ashes for Sky Sports UK, it would've been great to have seen Botham and Chappell back in the commentary box together like they were in the 1998/99 Ashes. How they got through that summer without any clenched fists or bloody faces I will never know, as Botham is at the very top of Chappelli's hate list (Tugga, Bradman and Geoff Boycott are not far behind).

that was the obvious plan all along, clarke should have seen that coming really.
Problem is Clarke with his dodgy back is struggling to evade the quick stuff. He doesn't to be moving against the short stuff like he used too.
