Shame we couldn't give S Marsh some runs too just to confirm his slot

Sadly for us I doubt anything would've made a difference. The love for Darsh among the decision makers is immeasurably strong.

eh, I don't think Darsh gets picked. A lot of momentum around the media for Bancroft, and Khawaja or Burns seems to have the other spot. Mitch Marsh will get a run though, despite Henriques arguably being a better selection (although his bowling doesn't carry much weight at the higher levels IMO).

Will eb pretty close to the side parraboy posted in OP. Would prefer Burns personally, and would also prefer only one of Starc/Johnson. Both should be pretty good on our pitches though.

You know it is a road when Khawaja makes a ton....and he scored 80 off 111 in boundaries....he still hasn't changed. Where is the rotating of the strike? It is either four or an endless supply of dot balls increasing pressure on the other bloke!

At the end of the day, Australia at home will be incredibly difficult to get on top of - teams are relatively evenly matched imo, home advantage is big

Advantage NZ if Darsh, Voges and Khawaja play!

On paper NZ is a better team. More proven test cricketers. Australia is hugely inexperienced.

Australia is a tough country to tour though. If Johnson or Starc click they will be hard to play.

Man-for-man we stack up reasonably well, but Australia is a very difficult place to tour, and like you we aren't without weaknesses... Guptill/Rutherford spring to mind, and Taylor's only just returning from an unpleasant injury...

Johnson hasn't clicked much lately, he gets a wicket here or there but this could be his last season I think.

Hopefully Pattinson is good to go soon because Cummins is a way off as he is remodeling his action and we need to keep Sids out of the team, do not rate.

NZ have the better pace attack at test level, the batting evens itself out I think, though we are gonna have a pretty inexperienced top 6 bar Warner/Smith, so kiwis better there too

Kiwis wont get a better opportunity since the Hadlee era to win a series down under

I agree

We are ripe for the picking but I tend to think our batting is our biggest weakness.

Best chance the Kiwis have had since the Paddles era.

Flattery eh, dunno, it's a bit like the union but in reverse - we're not rivals, but we can upset occasionally

1. We live down under too, so we win a bit here
2. We drew the last series in Australia... problem is you never play us - think this is the first test in Brisbane since 85>

Nah... We've played in Brissy a few times since then...

I remember big Jake Oram scoring a nice hundred at the Gabba... Only for it to be ruined by our hopeless bowlers who let dizzy gillespie and f**ken pigeon of all people get 50's...

Also remember Steve Waugh almost getting his pants pulled down with a cheeky declaration on the final day where NZ nearly chased them down with Cairns and McMillan going berserk... the Aussie bowlers ended up having to bowl wide to get the draw...

Indeed, not sure what I was thinking... perhaps Melbourne, about 1989 the last time we played there?

That McGrath tests aside - when Dizzy rode his bat like a horse, we've played pretty well there

That pink ball is a disgrace.

If the test is over in 2-3 days, then that will justify the continuation of these ridiculous day night tests.

Won't be long before people start demanding T20 tests after that.

As a Kiwi I am more annoyed about it because we have a chance to make a real run at you, and now one test will have an * against it regardless of who wins it

Think NZ played at the Gabba like 4 years ago? They got belted from memory

Other than South Australia's 3/3 (can happen to anyone, particularly if Starcs radar is on) none of the pink ball scores seem overly unusual?

Tassie sent WA in took 6 wickets in 96 overs

hahah that drawn series we destroyed you guys at Brisbane ? Come on man. You did sneak a win on a green top in Tasmania though. Hopefully no curators will be insane enough to produce a green wicket for the series. Hard and fast please.
