Throw in a fit and firing Gul and Kaneria and bring back in Younis and the Pakis look a far superior team. Umar looks a sublime talent.

bizarre they left Gul out, he was bowling ok over here I though - Rauf is very ordinary.... they really miss younis khan and danesh kaneria though, to be honest although you're dominating Australia look fairly ordinary - test cricket is much more interesting now! pretty even across the globe

I reckon Kaneria is gonna kill Australia at the SCG, If he is fit to play

What happened to Tavera (sp?) the pace bowler who does well with Warnes IPL side? Thought he be on this tour

You mean Tahnvir the left arm quick??? He is injured. Also is Kaneria really that good to just tear through the Aussie batting line up???

As much as the channel Nien cheerleading squad would hate to admit it we are nowhere near what we were. We have found a bowler in Dougie but Siddle is average and Johnson is so inconsistent.

Hussey probably should have been moved on but the selectors didn't have the balls to sack Pontings mate. Hauri is a joke and next in line is a 20 yr old kid. we are still in the top 3 maybe but need a spinner pronto.

Tahnvir thats the one

Kaneria took 8 wickets at the SCG test in 2005
Ponting made a double ton (he is no where near that form now)
and Gilly smacked a quick ton (he isnt around)
No one else did anything really

Also we had warne/mcgill in the side took 13 wickets, we now have Hauritz :?

Should be a great tussle if anything

I think Steve SMith will play in Sydney so that will be interesting. Hopefully Hussey is left out for the young Leggie

Asif seems a decent bowler but could be a lot better if he really pulled himself through the crease a bit better.

A bit of a boring test actually, another dull MCG drop in pitch and just not great cricket being played.

I agree - actually I thought it is strange that Hussey's not opening, Watson should be #5? Really would have thought it's time to move on and give Hughes an extended crack if he's anywhere near as good as the sychophantic stuff from media cheerleaders. Whatever happened to Jaques? and Rogers? Is there anyone pushing these guys anymore? One of your strengths in recent years was always the large number of quality players outside the test XI piling on performances year after year at first class level

But to be honest, Ponting's not in the form that he was, Clarke's very good, and Watson is in great form... nobody is too worried about Katich, Hussey or North. Haddin's very good, and the pace attack is decent but on a par with most others (until Steyn finds his mojo again). Bollinger is ok, there is a lot to like about Johnson, but he doesn't seem able to correct the major flaws... Siddle is ok, as is Hilfenhaus, and Hauritz is so bad it's funny

looks to me like the pitch is deteriorating pretty fast, we struggled with our run rate late yesterday and I would assume that we want to set it up so that we are not batting on the last day

I wonder if Punter would have enforced the follow on or not ?

they should be

he is our leading run scorer for the year (1111 runs), about 100 or so above Clarkey with Punter at about 850

I dont think he would have, otherwise he would have made another 100 in the first innings id say, plus he definately wants to bowl last on this type of deck

I think 300 is beyond Pakistan, But we will most likely try and get another 100 runs as quick as possible then declare

Sunshine to raise his bat at around 12.06pm

We have enough now unless Yousef,or the Akmal brothers do something special. The other guys i just can't see them hurting us, Misbah played well but it fairly limited through the off side.

Something of an urgent first over...not sure if we're going for runs or if Watto is trying to get back into it as quick as he can, but maybe settling down a little would be in order
