kinda weird, Punter was in awesome form prior to getting the captaincy in 2004

Pup was in terrible form prior to replacing Punter, but now is killing it

Can someone tell me how in the f**k Clarke is not only ranked lower than Amla in the batting stats, but is actually somehow only 6th?

He is has scored 1000 runs (200+ more than the next highest) and is averaging 111 this year (30 more than the next best). Unclear how much more he could be dominating the game than he is right now to improve his ranking.... I guess he just isn't dark enough

Just a guess but it might have to do with form away from home

Clarke's record is fairly poor compared to his record in Aus

I could be wrong but it would make sense for Clarke's 7 tests to be graded lower thank the SA batsmen. That is a guess, but it does make sense. A batsmen playing 12 tests averaging 50 is a better year than another batsman averaging 50 from 7 tests.

from what i can see, Clarke is the first player to bring up 1000 runs in a calendar year in just 11 inns from 7 tests.

Sobers made 1000 runs in his 7th test of 1958, but it was his 12th inns.

Quality of opponent, record home and abroad, number of tests etc etc.

A lot if factors involved. This innings though will propell him up the ranks though.

Australia's last test match before this game was back in April where Clarke performed averagely in the West Indies. South Africa's last game was in August against England where Amla averaged 120 including a 300 not out.
But yeah - probably racism

I was thinking this morning, I reckon Pup / Huss should take 10 minutes to get their eye in this morning, and then just unleash, if they're hitting them as good as they were yesterday we could EASILY get Pup to 300 and Huss to 150, and then Declare about 160-170 ahead, have a quick bowl at them before lunch.
