We're going to get to 400. With rain to come I can't see us losing from here. It all comes down to whether we will have enough time to win.

Australians enjoy seeing our national teams look good against weak opposition (aka Sri Lanka, New Zealand)

makes us feel big

Not so much when its an even contest/ not winning

Didn't really go our way last summer against these guys.

If there was anything that the SA series showed it was took not judge a score until both teams had batted

twice

I think it showed that you always have to play the situation at hand and never expect things to turn out a certain way just because that is how things usually happen

Rain. Personally I would declare now. 364 runs considering there should be rain today and tomorrow is enough.

We'd have to be shocking to lose from here and we have to go for the win. Declare now and aim to get them out for sub 300.

The downside of test cricket is 1. there are only a certain amount of good teams

2. you can only play against a certain touring team each summer - its not like footy season where you can change the opposition every week

3. the decline in the top echelon in test cricket losing pakistan (war on terrorism - no home test matches in that country, match fixing scandal after match fixing scandal) and the west indies (bored of cricket longer than 20 overs, rather play basketball, run 100mtrs) as top opposition means only England, South Africa and India (if they get their shit right) are the only opposition of note to offer any resistance

The rain radar for hobart is one of the worst in Australia

In the NZ test match last year - at the end of the 3rd day, start of the Australian 2nd innings, it rained for the rest of the day in Hobart, yet the radar showed NOTHING

But the Hobart Rain Radar is better than the one in Sri Lanka - that one is 'Coming Soon!'

No.

With rain around I'd look to bat as long as possible but definitely need to increase the run rate.

Aim to only bat once if possible.

Heals and Tubs are much easier to tolerate in 10-20 second clips.

Will 9 acknowledge "can't bowl, can't throw" here?

Pakistan could be back in action as early as next year. I believe they should be the number one test side and I think they are on the right track at the moment. West Indies seem to be rising a bit too and I believe they can get amongst the top. India I think is concerning. As enjoyable as it is to see India fail, I think they are in a little to steep a decline and that won't be the best for test cricket

If we were 2 or 3 down sure, but we're 5 down. Sure Hussey is there but the other end is Wade and the tail. We're in no position to be aiming for an innings+ win.

I'd like to see an attacking declaration.
