I think Clarke will play, he seems very determined lately to play every test. If not, Warnie should captain the side, bowl 70 overs, take 18/91 and lead us on to 5/0 5/0 Ashes glory. :sarcasm:

I am horrified at the thought of Watson captain.

Right up there with the Muller debut, losses in the ashes, Quiney debut and a loss to RSA.

Something went horribily wrong in the planning for the most selfish cricketer to be test captain.

I'm pretty close to the place where I want Haddin to replace Wade. Never thought I'd say that. Don't like Haddin but Wade is making some very basic errors that could cost us in the Ashes.

Khawaja should replace Clarke if necessary.

Watson captaining is a shit prospect. That single handedly will make me enjoy the Boxing day test less.

you single handedly caused a lot of the people here to enjoy this test less; you deserve to know what that feels like, but not at their expense

I don't like Cowan but it would be very harsh to drop him at this stage. The time to drop him was at the start of the summer IMO. Since then he has played decently.

NCN will probably get the nod in front of Bird if it comes down to those two. Watson should not be allowed anywhere near the captaincy. There's no reason why Hussey couldn't captain for a game and Khawaja for Clarke

In the event that it happens I wouldn't want to see Hughes and Warner open together, both are natural stroke players and like to get on with it on most occassions. If Cowan were to get dropped, I'd go so far as to keep Hughes at 3 and open with Warner/Khawaja. Won't happen though, Cowan does enough and is worth keeping in the team.

hope the pitch gods like us today

Siddle Watson Starc and Lyon dont exactly strike the fear of god into any batsman

As for the Boxing day test, I'd like to see Cutting get a run, he looks the part for mine, nice bowling action and a bit of pace

We need to entice these guys into playing shots, so we need an aggressive attacking field. We will soon find out if they are gonna try go for the total or just defend all day.

Sanga and Jaya are over due, plus guys like mathews is in awesome nick

I think SL will win in a cliff hanger somewhere deep after tea. I cant see us taking any wickets in the 1st session, setting the platform nicely for the SL Lions

I doubt SL will go for the win, especially with Dilshan back in the sheds. I'm tipping The Struggler to take 5 wickets as long as figuring out whether to bowl over or around the wicket isn't too stressful. The key today is line and length - there were a couple that stayed down yesterday and Watto is the best L&L bowler in the team.

And twizzlestick, forget the pitch gods - if we're unable to get the victory here it comes down to the players. Weather permitting.

I can't believe that in the two tests we actually had a chance of winning this series, we've been down a front line bowler.

I'll be very surprised if this one doesn't end in a draw. I predicted a drawn series before it began because I don't think either side is capable of taking 20 wickets.

And yes, I know we did it against SA in Perth. They were 500+ in front when the last wicket fell. Hardly a good guide.
