1st Test D/N Australia v Sri Lanka at Brisbane Jan 24-28 - AUSTRALIA WON BY AN INNINGS AND 40 RUNS

Yep - these 2 guys should be on their last chance
Burns should get the 2 matches to get a score

I have a bad feeling we won’t see anyone dropped after the first test.

Few reasons;

Head has just been named VC
Labuschagne’s bowling will more suit Canberra than Brisbane
And we’ll likely beat Sri Lanka at the Gabba.

Probably true
Also Pucovski doesn't have a match to play in to push his claims

Do we know that for sure though? Not only have we never seen a test there, we usually only see one FC match there a year?

What does a well-worn Canberra deck look like?

Other than Perth (new) and Auckland (rarely used now) are there any other test grounds in the world that don't really see any FC cricket?

There is still a batch of Shield matches for someone to put their hand up
except Wade of course

We really are on a hiding to nothing v SL

Perform well it could be oh well its only SL, maybe also bit of a false dawn for some players who may get runs

If we fail, lose to SL, then we are just worse than we thought we are, would be an all time low

I can’t say for sure, just seems more likely from what’s typical for that Canberra wicket.

I definitely see the selectors taking that viewpoint though.

I feel like the real losers in this series will be blokes like Burns and Patterson who will be the ones to make way for Smith and Warner come the Ashes regardless of how well they do.

You just f**king know they're also going to include one or both of the Marsh brothers in the Ashes squad for 'experience' and 'tucking JL into bed at night when he has bad night night times'.

I had a closer look at Labuschagne’s record, and one thing really stood out to me. He hasn’t averaged more than 40 in any of the 5 shield seasons he’s participated in. The best he did was 39.5.

Even when other guys have been selected with a career average in the 30’s its usually on the back of a stellar season or two. To no have passed 40 once is a real worry.

Yeah, maybe. I was actually wondering this the other day. How do you even pick a side for a ground that is so seldom used you can't determine what it'll do?

Haha, don’t make me laugh & cry all at the same time.

Can only hope Patterson makes enough runs so they can’t drop him.

Batting him at #3 in Sydney was insane, and sliding him one notch down for Brisbane is just plain stupid.

If he's in the side for his fielding and his, *ahem*, 'handy' leggies, then he should be batting at #6. Patterson and Head are far more accomplished than he is and should be at 4 and 5.

If anyone is going to be in the team for their fielding and "handy spin" surely it would have to the Big Show

The Canberra deck will be interesting. Later in the summer it's often very flat, hard to avoid when it's basically a pottery oven down here. And it's been fking hot already and will be back around the forties as of tomorrow too... It can obviously break up as a result

Not a fan of his inclusion, never have been

Hope he is the first one tossed out and Smith is at no3

I personally think JL is afraid of big personalities (as is Twizzle ;))
Wade, Maxwell, and I reckon he wont pick Warner in the test side, regardless of form

Easy to sell shit to yes people

Smith doesn’t seem to like no.3, Patterson could be an option there. I wouldn’t play khawaja in England.

If they don't play Khawaja it means they're playing Labralabracadabra-he's gonna reach out and grab ya, or Shaun f**king Marsh at #3 so if we can stop being insane for a moment, let's take Khawaja to England please.

He’s been one of the worst selections in a long time, he’s not up to batting in the top 6 let alone coming in first drop where normally the best player in the side comes in.

He flukes a few wickets with his leggie’s and somehow the selectors are justified???

Bullshit.
