Or kiwis could have batted first and been in that position ?
Was a dumb call, but as I said earlier they’re full of stupidity atm. To be fair, we woukk lol d have lost fewer wickets and been much slower, so would be different

there’s batting left, they simply have to bat well now

Batting properly is a subjective thing.

The objective seemed to be that they wanted a go bowling under the lights so they smashed 300 and took out 3 of the NZ top order by stumps.

In general everyone seems to want to to point out the flaws of Englands playing style, the truth is, this kind of play brings attention to Test Cricket which is dying a slow death everywhere outside of India, Australia & England. Truth be told, if it wasn't for Englands tactics/style of play, I wouldn't have watched as much of this match as I have.

Just like the NRL, more teams should adapt to their own style of play, to suit their own players skillsets, rather than try and be cookie cutters of the big teams.

Yep 100%
Also while I understand the need for pink ball tests, they kind of suck (but I’m an old curmudgeon)

and falling accordingly. A helpful cameo, I think.

Key partnership here between Conway and Mitchell.
Yep, very Bazball lol

I guess the English approach was ok for pink ball, we need to bat well now, and again need to pick our best players…

Pretty poor from Mitchell.

What I meant to say here was pretty key partnership here between Conway and Blundell

NZ's session, I think....just...in that the game is more evenly poised now than it was at the beginning of the session. In saying that, we're a wicket away from being well and truly behind.

Heard some commentary lamenting that NZ weren't running at the same RR as England. I can't understand that at all. If anything, them doing that takes the pressure off us. We're running at 3 an over- that's totally fine by me.

Blundell stranded here as usual. Really bad that Bracewell got that 140 in an ODI in India as our selectors will be thinking they're the smartest people in the room again while giving him an extended run. He'll get a little less rope not being a Cantab but I expect he's got 12 months grace.

There’s something really funny about Larsen thinking he’s the cleverest guy in the room 😂😂

The other team scoring at 6 an over and declaring after 2.5 sessions does give you the luxury of more time to grind out the runs
