every time he was on strike the field was set back about 20/30 metres

There were howlers from the umpires throughout the match. MHussey LBW pitched outside leg comfortably, Gambhir LBW missing off, hit outside off, hit the ball, Sharma LBW missing leg comfortably, Ojha not out absolutely plumb.

UDRS here we come. Merkins like Bowden are hopeless.

This comes down to the selectors/Ponting continually choosing North and Hauritz. North has been a disaster the good part of a year and Hauritz continually shows he can not bowl out a side (not bribed to give their wickets away) in the fourth inning, when he is needed most.

If Ponting insists on choosing both of these players in the future then he must be replaced as skipper

No pressure from Ponting, but it was a hell of an inningsm under pressure for the fact that he makes one error and its all over. The match rests on his shoulders. Thats pressure. One mistake from him in either his own batsmanship or how much trust he puts in the tail enders and it's all over. For that reason, its a great fourth innings effort.

Can't really complain both teams got shockers. Ponting captaincy pure and utter rubbish, losing Bollinger huge blow and playing with 8 players (7 with Bollinger off) doesn't help.

Bowden. Hopeless. It had to be a square up for Gambhir where he gave Gambhir out after knocking the cover off it outside the off stump.

Bowden never seems to come under scrutiny for his performances. He (rightly) is criticised on here and I'm sure in other places, but the quality of his umpiring is awful. It's all bluff and bluster. Maybe the ICC umpires are appraised by Robert Finch?

Laxman was playing injured, why didn't we go in for the kill

1 slip and all fielders in the deep all day is not test cricket

I know what Tugga would have done, he would have definitely gone in for the kill

even at the end when they only needed a few runs he still did not put any pressure on him

he is not a test match skipper imo

I think Ponting definitely deserves critisism (team selection and his negative attitude against Laxman the two that first come to mind).

But in the end if we had Douggie, I think we win comfortably.
