Was there a yorker at all in that last session? I was screaming for one, you have the tallest man in India at one end and a bloke unable to move much at all at the other. Everything should have been at the head or toes, all that in between crap did nothing, and then North gets a bowl, not for a couple of overs, but 4..... holy f**k!!

This Test match will be covered in Chapter 48 of my book "Thank f**k He's Done", due out just after Ricky's last match as captain.

Our strength is our batting, this let us down in the 2nd dig. We really needed another 60 plus runs

If we continue to pick Hauritz (a non wicket taker), we need safer runs on the board. Otherwise we will get run over again like today

Our pacemen took 14 of the 18 wickets (one run out not counted). Hauritz got Zaheer Khan out twice

North needs to be dropped (pushed) from centrepoint tower.

Actually if anything at all came from that match I think the Australian quicks bowled well on a wicket that could be at best described as unhelpful.

Don't think Centre point tower is high enough.

Better team won, if you're honest... you guys seem to be facing up to that...

At the end of the day, Laxman not batting in the first innings cost them a lead?

North, Hauritz not really test calibre, would be lucky to make the NZ team... your pace bowlers are ok, and there are serious questions over Hussey too...

What is likely to happen now, is you'll play well in the second test, win or draw it (because you're still good), but North and Hussey will get lucky breaks make runs, and Haurtiz will get a couple of wickets from arrogant shots, and their test careers will be saved!

Laxmas's displays against Australia are pretty sepecial... he's very much the 4th best batsman in that lineup, but against you guys he grows another leg...

Be intersting to look at a team of people who have really performed against Australia... I guess I'd start with Laxman, Dravid, and Hadlee :)

f**king Laxman again, we are never able to get that merkin out

The bastard averages 84 in 4th inns. He did the same thing to SL they were cruising he gets 100 on the 5th day.

North must go but wont. Ponting's field and bowling selectons was very bad

We really lack a bowler who can tie down an end and build pressure like McGrath use to do, why Hilfy got straight back in the team is beyond me, where was Ryan Harris, is he injured again.

Hauritz doesn't turn the ball enough, he went ok last summer but only against mediocre teams.

We need a quality leg spinner, but the question is, do we put Steve Smith in and let him play, and see what happens, he does give the ball a rip, he might go for runs but he might get wickets as well.

North has to go, bring White or Ferguson in at 6.

It may be a long summer, even the poms will beat us with Ponting as captain, he is ordinary, i'm even sick of his batting, how many times does he throw his wicket away.

Put this down to Mr VVS Laxman. The man turns it up against Australia...not so good against the rest.

Johnson should have just been told to bowl quick at the stumps and ishant would have eventually missed. With occasional bouncing nasties like what got Harbajan out. Someone else asked the question and ive been saying it for a while but where is Ryan Harris?? 145km and accurate as hell and a real workhorse. He needs a spot, better value than Hauritz who is bit part.

Use a 4 man pace attack like England in the 05 ashes. With Johnson batting as the allrounder at 6 or 7

Marcus North will likely be spared the selectors' axe as Australia reel from the gut-wrenching first-Test defeat. The No.6 batsman, who failed to score more than 10 runs for the 16th time in his 30-innings career, nevertheless retained the confidence of the selection panel because of a century in the practice match before the Test. And despite the lean trot, North's stunning form in last year's Ashes has made him a favourite for the return series next month.
''No player is safe in international cricket, you've got to perform,'' said Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors. ''What we do know is that he was in excellent form in the tour game, he's scored hundreds at international level, he's scored hundreds against England. He is a very classy player. He'd be disappointed he failed, like any other player.''

'No player is safe international cricket, you've got to perform'

BULL F*CKIN SH*T!!!

The fact North is still being picked means this comment is an utter lie.

Disgrace.

So he is being selected based off a tour match.

And he may be picked for the Ashes because of his 'awesome' performance in the last Ashes.

I suppose that mean Phillip Hughes MUST be picked for our next series against the South Africans since he slayed them the last time we played them

The hypocricy and sh*t that comes out of Hilditch is f*cking bulls*it.

North averages 27 in the last FIVE series. 17 if you don't count the series against New Zealand when he came up against the worse bowling attack in the history of test cricket. He keeps failing and you keep picking him.

Andrew Hilditch must be fired!

from the same article above, on Hauritz this time

Another player who did not perform in Mohali was offspinner Nathan Hauritz, who managed three tailenders' wickets in the match and looked ineffective on the fifth day. He too received a vote of confidence from Hilditch. ''I'm not reading too much into Nathan's performance because he took three wickets," he said. "He's been averaging about 4½ [runs an over] since he came into the Test side, and he's performed really well for us. The reality is that this was not a wicket that suited spin bowling. He's been our premier spinner for well over 12 months now; that's how we still see him"

Hauritz also has strong support from Ricky Ponting, who called the offspinner a 'lock-in' for the Ashes two months ago.

The reality Mr Hildich is Hauritz cant take wickets on wickets that support spin bowling either you brainless imbecile

He has been locked in to the ashes?

oh my goodness

I would hardly call the first test' a raging turner PB, Harby only got 2 more wickets, Ojha got the same amount. The quicks would ahve got 80% of the wickets for both sides!
