That was hilarious.

Punter giving free runs away when India only needed a dozen to win!

Makes Yousuf's effort in Sydney look Tubby Taylor-esque as captain.

Unbelieveable.

Bowden. Hopeless. It had to be a square up for Gambhir where he gave Gambhir out after knocking the cover off it outside the off stump.

Bowden never seems to come under scrutiny for his performances. He (rightly) is criticised on here and I'm sure in other places, but the quality of his umpiring is awful. It's all bluff and bluster. Maybe the ICC umpires are appraised by Robert Finch?

Bowden would be right at home at the NRL.. They may call on him to be a video ref next season or perhaps a linesman.

Something has to be done, honestly we are no hope of winning back the Ashes with this team with ponting as captain. But Ponting is coated with Teflon i have no doubt nothing will be done or said.

From the fall of the 8th wicket that was without doubt some of the worst captaincy i have ever seen. An injured Laxman was able to do as he pleased. No pressure on him at all, but i'm sure his pets will be back for the next test

Laxman couldn't even play the ball square on the leg side could he ? I missed a bit of this game cause I was doing stuff at work but from the replays all the pull shots he played seemed to be in front of square. Why not try just filling that gap and bouncing the sh*t out of him and see what happens.

As I raged at my partner while I was watching it. When a side needs 8 runs bring the field up ffs. Why not put any pressure on Laxman at all.

If we go into the Ashes with this side we are in trouble.

Regardless of how bad pontings captaincy was and any decisions before that (which went against both sides...i also think sharmas was out)...

That decision at the end was one of the worst i have seen yet. That was as absolute plum as you get. An absolute joke. Incompetent and unbelievable.

In the big picture (Ashes) it may not have been such a bad thing that we lost.

If we'd won, North's failures would no doubt have been looked over, and he'd probably have been picked again.

I'd be amazed if he wasn't dropped for the 2nd test.

North needs to go but would you drop Watson as opener I wouldn't.
Maybe Hughes to open and Katich to three and everyone down one. But is Hughes the man for India. Is Steve Smith in at 6 the better option. Maybe Usman Khuwaja should have gone instead. But one thing is certain Marcus North's time is up I am afraid.

And if that is the case, then this result was for the greater good.

Our best two batsman of the past 12 months have been Sunshine and Katich, so what do our braindead selectors do????? Pick an opener as the spare batsman :?

You guys really need Hughes in the side. He is the next Lara. Kato or Watson will both be successful at 5 or 6. Watson id say. It will give you an extra batting powerhouse. Get the feeling Punter only bowled North to try make him the hero to save his career. Pup would have been a better option. And Johnson should have bowled right threw, not be taken off for Hilfy

Oh, and where the hell was Nathan Hauritz on Day 5 - the spinners day???? Seems like Punter has no faith in him when the pressure is really on. The game could have been won through attacking fields and bowling against Sharma when there was still 80 to win. All out attack is the only way to bowl and field in that situation, im sure Warney or Clarke would have had the balls to do so

ponting will want north and wont want changes.

I give up with cricket ponting and the selectors wont be sacked

So f**k them

people need to show with these clowns they are sick of it and not turn up to the test matches in Australia

other wise the same selectors and ponting will continue to be status quo

Don't worry at this rate when we lose the ashes a lot of heads will roll including Punter.
