Murphy the only shinging light although he was a bit of an unknown for India. He will have it much tougher in the remaining tests. I thought Boland bowled alright too and probably deserved a wicket. Lyon and Cummins were poor, but neither will be dropped. Starc probably needs to come in to the side whenever fit.

Batting was just awful. The top 7 must have had the pre test match jitters as they were like deers in headlights. Pathetic shot selection from Khawaja and Carey. Warner and Renshaw completely out of their depth.

India are super tough to beat at home. We don't have the team to trouble them, no matter who we pick. Probably going to take a miracle to win a test.

It's a bit embarrassing carrying on like pork chops, celebrating like we've cured cancer at home when we beat minnows. Yet when we play quality opposition we put up this dross.
They thought they could talk themselves into a win or something. Its bizzare.

2017 at least Smith was in bradman mode.

It's looking like a good decision to play no tour matches prior to the tests in India. That seemed to work out well for our batsmen. Also dropping an in-form Head was a master-stroke.

Well done CA you muppets.

I'll revisit this tomorrow when sober but it's a nice reality check to see our team get this sort of spankification abroad when we're so used to doing this to merkins here at home.

I don’t think the lack of tour matches is the issue. India will just serve up green tops for the tour matches like last time anyway.

more young kids needed.

Smiffy and Marnus need help.

Do no kids play cricket anymore.

You would think with all the millions earnt in India playing kids cricket would have them better at playing in India.

But no, we continue to be shyte in India.

Can't play spin and thanks to not wanting VFL scabs (Sydney Cricket Ground!!!) to scrape thier knees, we have no pitches on which to learn.

Come to Australia, we have bounce and no turn.

And FFS find a leggie!!!

what a spineless inept performance

good idea to drop our most inform batsman, maybe the selectors need to be dropped also

can't wait for the ashes when our brains trust decide to drop Harry Potter for the Boat and then we'll be completely shit

I have no strong feelings either way.

But what tactics would you recommend for a top and middle order that struggles to achieve double digit scores?

The batting is our biggest problem, for sure.

But Cummins' field placings, and bowler rotations, when we are on the attack, are puzzling.

I don't think he goes hunting for wickets aggressively enough, and he doesn't use his part-timers enough.

He's an inexperienced captain, but he needs plenty of work in that department imo.

Ravindra Jadeja found guilty of breaching ICC Code of Conduct

HIT FOR SIX!

India's ace all-rounder has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Australia in Nagpur.
Ravindra Jadeja was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to displaying conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.
In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Jadeja’s disciplinary record. This was his first offence in a 24-month period.
INDIA V AUSTRALIA SCORECARD
The incident occurred during the 46th over of Australia’s first innings on Thursday, 9 February, when Jadeja was seen applying a soothing cream to his index finger. In the video footage, the left-arm spinner took a substance from Mohammed Siraj's palm and appeared to rub this onto the index finger of his left hand.
The India team management had explained that the finger spinner was applying the cream to a swelling on the index finger of his bowling hand. This was done without asking for permission from the on-field umpires.
