Well left dickhead

And he's on a hatrick now! And 299 wickets....that'd be a fairly remarkable way to do it, come on Frankenstein

Thought poms might have declared last night

Try and get 1-2 wickets. But also the set batsman need to reset again in the morning

In any case, works out well for the Aussies, if poms keep batting

They put up a chart during the coverage and apparently if it is a drawn series, or either India or England win 1-0, then we make the Test Championship

So here's to roads the next 3 tests , winning the toss, and trying to bat long into day 3

Tie is a big prediction, only ever been a couple of them... I’d lean towards a draw, England winning second... India somehow winning seems more likely than a tie

Boring. Someone call Ashwin a dickhead already or something

Also is Jack Leach wearing a chest guard on his stomach?

England must be very confident of bowling India out twice

Whether they're confident or not it's likely to be the only way they win this match you'd reckon.

If they'd declared earlier and had to bat tomorrow to set a lead I think India would be where they wanted to be, having lost the toss. They would have been wanting a chance to get England out there as this clay comes through more with the game in the balance.

This is the tactics of the England of old.

Plan A: Get your team in the position where it cannot lose the test match.

Plan B: try and win.

Its not an attacking mindset.

Disagree. For one, it's a successful approach in the subcontinent, knowing that the pitches will usually be flat as the Hume for the first day or two and then fall apart later on. Get all the runs you need early. In that sense it is quite attacking; make the opposition field for three days and then know they have to bat the rest of the test, while the pitch is falling apart, to salvage anything at all.

The Australian mindset values "attacking" cricket over all else, right down through the grades, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with more circumspect tactics under the right circumstances. What does it matter how aggressive you were if you still win the match?
