yeh but if the house gets knocked down the bails will still fall

better then taking them off which is what we do otherwise the game is stopped every few minutes to replace the bails

not much else they can do I guess

 de Villiers batted at six in a couple of ODIs too, I think that had something to do with his keeping, maybe he is trialling the position so he can start keeping in tests too.

I think it goes without saying that PB's prediction will not eventuate. He jynxed the great man who departed on 113 to Trent Boult.

I think NZ has to have a serious look at Tim Southee as a test bowler. A lot of potential but he is just not successful at test level yet.

they've put "heavy bails" on because the lighter ones were blowing off because of how cold and windy it is in Dunedin. I know the wind will help, but won't the heavier bails be more resistant to falling off at times of an actual wicket?

They're a slightly heavier wood, not lead. Unless someone as slow as fat Jaques is bowling it won't be a problem.

Was just about to post that, must be time for him to have an extended stint in the first class arena, bowling average in the mid 40's is attrocious and just ineffective if there is no swing about

SA 415/5 - Lead of 381

51 overs left on day 4

Id imagine the proteas would look to delcare within the next hour, a 440 plus lead ? with about 4 sessions to bowl NZ out

Gee South Africa's new ball bowling is impressive. Great lengths, they move the ball both ways... New Zealand bowl too many half volleys and half trackers, and tend to only move the ball one way by trade.

Me. Just then.

Well you were way off the mark with your comparisons then.

Unfortunately dropping Southee won't do him any good. He's too good for plunket shield like Jesse Ryder proved during his stint there. The only why he's gonna get better is by playing a bit of county cricket in the winter which is highly unlikely due to the f**ken ipl.

no doubt this is a huge mistake to say, but this is so far a promising chase from nz.

wonder how we'll f**k it up.
