I gotta give ANTILAG one thing though... I get where he's coming from..

Starc was a bit stupid saying that...

I mean Macca had faced Younis and Akram, Ahktar at 160kms... Brett Lee in his prime...

Starc would be laughable in comparison...

Think the speed gun came over with Nigel Llong

Great day's cricket, Sri Lankans fighting hard, exactly what you want

Guptil being given a lot of lives in this second innings while Latham has gotten yet another start. For different reasons birth guys will feel like they need to kick on and make a big score here.

Sky Sports need a kick up the jacksie. Sri Lanka reviewed an LBW on Latham on 97, they couldn't give the umpire off side hot spot, leg side hot spot was so far back that with Latham sweeping you couldn't see hot spot, and then to top it off they couldn't give the third umpire ball tracker. Perhaps most embarrassing though was Paul Reiffel himself, who couldn't see, even though it was clear as water, that Latham had knocked the cover off the ball. Reiffel you dunce, the easiest way to tell is that the way, which was going up, all of a sudden when going to the edge of the bat, goes down and completely changes trajectory. They need to send these third umpires to spec-savers. The other thing, even though it was comprehensively not out, because not all parts of the technology were usable, Sri Lanka retain their review. It was a poor review, and they kept it due to poor technology.

Good hundred from Latham. Finally he converts one of his many starts. If he can keep converting, and learn to pick up more singles, he'll be a top class test bat.

Angelo Mathews, what a toss of a captain. The bloke opens the bowling, with the wind, with his slow military mediums, and then puts his fastest bloke, young Chameera who is a very good young talent IMO, straight into the wind first change. Then they were so far behind the over rate, despite bowling Herath until he was bashed out of the attack, to the point it you could only say it was deliberate time wasting.

Paul Reiffel will not have heard the last of that.

A question for idiotic third umpires, if a tree falls in the forest, and there is no snicko displayed on rts, did the tree fall?

If an umpire cannot correctly answer the above question - they should be fired.

There is no need to answer if a tree falls in the forest, and is no snick displayed on rts, did the tree falling over make a sound, when the third umpire only needs to confirm that the tree has indeed fallen over which by analogy is confirm that the bat hit the ball either with hot spot or the ball changing trajectory immediately after being in contact with the bat.

Yeah, really weird, Reiffel definitely said "I have no evidence that he hit that ball", buit the on-field umpire clearly thought he did, and unless the Kookaburra ball is so deformed it defies the laws of physics that was a pretty big change of direction as the ball passed the bat, "could have been anything I guess"... that aside, he was so far outside the line, that was a review of Watsonian proportions

Missing Mark Craig about now, first he catches the one Guptill spilled, blind folded ad facing the boundary, second despite all the shot he's taken, he's bowled well in the 4th innings of tests

Great post JJ on both points.
