Love how Australians judge a player on a couple of tests on roads against flat track bullies.

Huge value as a slips fielder, unlike your lot Craig can catch!

Hard to work out whether the declaration was too friendly, influenced by the weather forecast, but not getting out on this pitch is relatively straightforward

Further on the DRS bullshit, these f**king third umpires need to open their eyes, Llong's effort in Adelaide was ridiculous, and Reiffel appeared unable to see the footage which was played to him repeatedly... the comments below illustrate why it was played repeatedly, once the ball hits the bat they stop collecting data, so they showed him the ball hitting the bat over and over, he just never saw it... could be fixed if they were allowed to communicate, or they use umpires with a smidgen of intelligence - it seems Reiffel was happy to give Latham out lbw if he had ball tracking - despite obvious evidence he hit it

"Taylor said Reiffel had no access to ball-tracking because the ball had hit the bat and once that occurs there is no more data.
The problem is the DRS operators have no jurisdiction to tell Reiffel that and advise that a camera angle they have exclusive access to showed Latham hit the ball.
Taylor was frustrated the DRS technology had bore the brunt of unjustified criticism - a situation that could be addressed if the third umpire sat in the control booth alongside his staff.
"He doesn't talk to anyone in this room. No one in this room can talk to him, and that's the problem," he said."

Lol testy testy, I can only go on what I see. Craig is as a poor spinner as I have seen out here.

Could not keep it tight at any time and bowled two lengths and his line was all over the place. The field placings by captain wonderful didn't help but the young all rounder at least had some sort of control when he bowled. When you are talking up a blokes slips fielding as a reason to keep him in the wide you know you are struggling lol. Mark Taylor and Mark Waugh would still be playing for us lol.

Sri Lanka have a good chance now. At the moment Boult looks like a club bowler. He is military medium. Looks woefully short of a gallop

These third umpires have the brains of dead ants. The ball was going up, hitting the bottom edge and immediately transcended down. Reiffel reckoned he saw evidence of ball hitting bat even though it was shown repeatedly. The system may need an overhaul, but more so, use some common sense and stop trying to over complicate it.

Mark Taylor and Mark Waugh would still be playing for us lol.

They'd still score runs on the pitches you produce, and catch better than your current cordon

Boult needs to get his back right - either it's not, or he simply doesn't have confidence in it

Haha how does that flat track bully average 50. Leaves one which clips his leg and sends middle pin cart wheeling.

DRS is just wrong. Absolutely dead set 500000% wrong. Full toss hit in front of middle, straightening down the line, and DRS has it missing off. Dreadful. Absolutely no way that is not out. Crazy.

Meh no complaints here. Wagner went wide of the crease and I thought it was touch and go. If it went our way I wouldn't be complaining.

Well bowled Southee. The New Zealand bowlers have bowled very well on a good batting deck. Except Boult really looks out of all rhythm.

Left arm around wide of crease to left arm batsman where delivery was a high full toss at 140 kph. That was not a 140 kph ball that had bounced and travelling the last part of its longer journey to the stumps a lot slower. Ball tracking fine on that one - reverse swing stops it going to first slip and it was only missing by a whisker.

But Wagnerites such as myself have been vindicated this match.

Good win, solid all round. Shame Kane didn't go on and get two hundreds

Be good to see some improvement in Boult soon, and Watling get amongst the runs

Not a bad effort from Sri Lanka in the end, the pair at the crease had been looking solid before a costly lapse of concentration and the beautiful NZ weather played up late on day 4. Williamson in the runs yet again, hell of a player.

Be good to have some certainty from the selectors.

Santner got a pass mark this test, but he has long way to go to convince many. That lbw ball that went to DRS bounced incredibly high as well as turning sharply. So he could have more to offer than nude spin. But he still has a FC batting average of under 30 to match his test average, and his FC bowling average of 51 means I take his current test bowling average with a grain of salt.

Wagner impressed.

And there have been calls for Craig's return. Without doubt he was sorely missed in the field.

Which puts Bracewell under pressure. Yet Bracewell, although not getting wickets which is his primary job, has been bowling economically on good lengths in Australia and against Sri Lanka but not causing the batsman any problems, and nudged vital tail end runs this game. I am not typically a Doug Bracewell fan, but his control of length has pleased me and I am a massive fan of bowling allrounders - should he truly want to develop his batting talent moving forward. I think a team with a number 8 who is a genuine centurion threat, with regular 50's is a better selection policy for team balance, especially if there is an allrounder paying at 6 and not a top flight batsman. This was the first match Doug did not bat like a tool with the tail like he has done previously.

So positions 6, 8 and 9 are still up for grabs, debate and conjecture.

Top 6 wont change, as neither Anderson nor Neesham are ready to play.

Really just a question of the bowling attack and the wicket - Wagner or Craig still imo. Bracewell has bowled well all summer, he's locked that spot down for now IMO, even if he only took one wicket he bowled better than that.

I'd consider resting Boult tbh, and bring Henry in. - Boult simply cannot be fit, or at least confident in his back. As long as the wickets have some green, I'm keen on 4 pace bowlers and Santner
