Inglis could end up like Voges. Gets a few easy series where he exclusively comes in to bat at 3/300+ and pads himself a nice average. Gets a handful of tough tests where he flops but will statistically look impressive due to the easier knocks he had.
Fun fact: Voges holds the record for most consecutive runs across multiple innings without being dismissed at 614. The next best is Tendulkar who scored 497.
True, was well past his best when he finally got his test call up though and had his numbers padded by some ordinary opposition. I also didn’t realise Inglis was as young as he is, will probably get around 40 tests when he’s ready to retire, as Carey is several years older.Voges was a very good bat in his own right to be fair, memes aside.
Not sure Inglis is at that level but with the way modern cricket is played he's the sort of guy you want at 5. I'd be interested in his FC average without the gloves, I think it would be much better than the basic stats show.
