Um, the tactic of declaring just before stumps and giving them a few overs of heat doesn't work if you've only got 1 pace bowler in your team.

Don't reckon we bat again tbh. Well, VVS Laxman trauma pending I suppose. I think the pitch has been flatter than expected but it's definitely turning and starting to really crumble in places

Inglis could end up like Voges. Gets a few easy series where he exclusively comes in to bat at 3/300+ and pads himself a nice average. Gets a handful of tough tests where he flops but will statistically look impressive due to the easier knocks he had.

Fun fact: Voges holds the record for most consecutive runs across multiple innings without being dismissed at 614. The next best is Tendulkar who scored 497.

Voges was a very good bat in his own right to be fair, memes aside.

Not sure Inglis is at that level but with the way modern cricket is played he's the sort of guy you want at 5. I'd be interested in his FC average without the gloves, I think it would be much better than the basic stats show.

Lol Kuhnemann to open

I'd have given the Big Slug a nibble with the new ball. Bit of swing from altitude

True, was well past his best when he finally got his test call up though and had his numbers padded by some ordinary opposition. I also didn’t realise Inglis was as young as he is, will probably get around 40 tests when he’s ready to retire, as Carey is several years older.

Another fun fact about Voges: he is the only Australian (and possibly international too) to average over 45 in test, ODI and T20I

Old mate is already more threatening than Lyon. Should be our first choice spinner from now on.

These two are the big gets. Karunaratne loves a long dig and Chandimal is super underrated. I suppose the skipper is also a stoic lad.

We’re a pretty f**king good side. There’s obviously some flaws but missing a lot of cattle in unfamiliar conditions we’re still killing it.

f**k me that would've been a screamer.

Ofc Cam Green takes that at waist height.
