Kinda feel for Inglis.
On one hand, century on debut - the 118th person to do it in test history; first in almost ten years for Australia (and 21st Aussie overall). Did it at a rapid rate too.
On the other hand, it’s polarised pundits, fans and casual viewers who think both McSweeny and Konstas have been hard done by in the selection room and probably would’ve belted the runs too. Plus he’s done it against a pea hearted attack hadn’t helped.
I was with a group of 70-75 year old women yesterday, all know a thing or two about cricket, and they were filthy - absolutely filthy - Konstas was dropped. They were glued to the cricket at MCG and SCG, excited, talking about the kid getting out there and whacking it around. They even watched bbl to see him bat and they don’t watch bbl at all. I travel about and despite what anyone may say, and stats etc, Konstas has certainly got casual cricket people excited again.
