Australians with a better batting average than Hughes over the last 3 Ashes innings
Pattinson 70.00
Khawaja 34.00
Clarke 34.00
Watson 32.00
Haddin 28.33
Harris 26.00
Rogers 24.33
Cowan 14.00
Sundries 13.00
Agar 10.67
Siddle 10.33

Why would you omit the 81 not out Hughes scored at Trent Bridge, other than to give a misleading picture?

Drop smith for warner, no sense dropping a specialist batsmen and keeping an all rounder in smith...unless they drop watson

Smith is not an all rounder.

Just because a batsmen rolls his arm over occasionally does not make him an all rounder .

He has a FC average of 55 , strike rate of 80 and economy of 4.11

Those are the bowling figures of a batsmen.

He has a respectable batting average of 41.

To make the point even clearer , Bevan , katich and Michael Clarke have superior bowling records in FC cricket.

Warner was always going to come back. The only questions are who does he replace, and whether or not the No Show gets a gig.

Edgar has scored a century too.. I wouldn't read too much into the pitch. And f**k show, keep him away from test cricket at all cost. Yeah he might score against nuffies but would get made to look like a dried up dog shit that he is against quality bowling like England's, Saffa's, Indian's and even Paki's ad prob WIndies.

Smith has probably been our most consistent batsmen over the past 12 months, and he just rolled a few poms with his part time leggies.

So yeah, lets drop him.

I'm with Twiz here. Smith doesn't deserve the axe more than Hughes, Watson and Cowan.

Not even close.

Warners runs are losing value by the hour. Firstly getting a ton at the same time as Maxwell hurts. Secondly, the saffer second stringers getting to 5/526 including a 260 odd not out (and counting) probably puts a serious dent into his hopes of getting in the 3rd test.

Also it looks like The Big Shows big bag of tricks doesnt include a wicket ball. 0/66 in 12 overs.

I really hope our selectors look at the entire scorecard and not just Daves score in isolation. Context means so much here. Tsolekile doesn't even average 30 and he has a ton here.

Yeah me too, hope they look at his big test innings where he demolished attacks, and the steady hand he played in almost getting us a win vs the kiwis on a unstable deck where everyhone else failed. Plus what he brings to the field instead of the likes of a cowan, hughes or khawaja, plus look at his test average compared to everyone else bar clarke
