I'm always unconvinced about Ross Taylor, he's such a scratchy starter, shuffling around the crease missing everything, when he gets in a bad run he's just plain hopeless. Trouble is, out of nowhere he'll club a ton and follow it up with a couple of others, bit of a Nathan Astle.

Yeah, I agree - a lot like Astle - streaky, but he can be a fine player. Also I think he needs a kick up the arse, maybe he should illegally shine the ball and get focused like du Plessis - when the orginal captaincy shit came down he played a great test...

How tough? Very little movement in the air and only a little bit off the pitch. Pitch is green but flat so no massive deviation is going to happen laterally or horizontally. The only real demon might be the light being a bit dull.

Really settling in to Raval. Obviously got a life here, but is looking to make them pay now- sign of a good batsmen. Love his temperament and his approach, which is really adding some equilibrium to the team.

I agree that apart from Amir the bowling has been poor.

My impression was similar to Hobart and Adelaide - but could be wrong haven't seen the whole morning saw a period when we were struggling, and then later when they were bowling Taylor into form. Amir aside they've been pretty poor IMO.
