It’s good to hear admin taking about Growth & doing something about it
That is the positive.
You can think it is pie in the sky and that x place deserves a team but aiming for growth is great

Why does rugby league expanding trigger you so ?Can we stop acting like this is some fresh new idea being suggested for the first time? Many people before have suggested this, shut these ‘anonymous nobodies’ on here have been talking about this as long as I’ve posted here which must be coming on 2 decades.
Its never amounted to anything fruitful because the amount of investment is too great for the potential reward and the idea is only ever brought up as a ‘hey wouldn’t this be beat’ rather than something they intend to go through with.
If the NRL can actually set up a proper pathway for these fellas to make it into the NRL then go for it. I don’t think it’s good value for money or a realistic idea and until I see actual concerted efforts to make it happen I don’t believe that the likes of politis or PVL are actually serious about this.
It is probably better to look at things like Rugby Sevens to be honest.

Bro f**king what? Seriously posting on this forum has rotted some of your brains. I think few posters have argued more for expansion than I have and suggesting that recruiting failed NFL recruits is unrealistic and very unlikely to happen isn’t being anti expansion. Why does rugby league expanding trigger you so ?

I’m happy the dolphins got in though it’s a super safe option when it comes to expansion. I want to see us expand to 20 and actually expand to new markets like Perth if possible. To all the idiots saying this is a pipe dream they literally just added the dolphins and team 18 is a formality
I know this makes afls move into tasmania a laughing stock but well that can’t be helped can it
If it comes off and gets players to the NRL I’m fine with it. I just think there’s no point really paying this any attention as it’s almost certainly the usual hot air blown towards ideas like this. It’s not serious and it’s unlikely to actually happen. There was no timeline on it though.
It is an old article. The plan was to have a RLWC over there too, That always leads a few guys in minnow teams getting a deal somewhere.
There is a decent amount of Samoans over in the states too so it isn't like it is a foreign concept
So the Chairman of the arlc supporting the move to 20 teams should be a reason to be happy thenBro f**king what? Seriously posting on this forum has rotted some of your brains. I know this is hard for some of you to understand but not everything is a battle between AFL fans and NRL fans, occasionally y’all need to take a break from the internet and step back into the real world.

Id be super happy for the NRL to get a new pathway for talent (though I think it’s a shame ignoring the talent closer to home).

This thread wouldn’t be legitimate without an overdose of your pessimism in it. Thanks for playing. It's worse than that, it's a pipe dream that gets mentioned all the time by basically every single sports administrator the world over. Anybody that's actually tried it has quickly found that it's way more expensive than they expected, and that there's way less interest from non-drafted American athletes than they thought there would be.
They totally underestimate just how much time and money it will take to teach even the most gifted athlete the ins and outs of a new sport, and that non-drafted American athletes are all university educated men who have an expectation of earning millions of dollars as a professional athlete. Most undrafted athletes whom might be interested in trying out quickly change their minds when they find out about the value of the minimum wage contract they'd be expected start out on, and what the top earners are getting in their contracts.
The AFL tried this about a decade ago. IIRC they only got three guys whom ended up getting a run in the AFL, all ex-basketballers BTW, and only two of those guys, Jason Holmes and Mason Cox, ended up as solid first graders. It was a very heavy investment of resources for only two guys.
Now none of this is to say that the NRL shouldn't explore holding combines in the US, or looking to develop talent there in some other manner. Why not give it a crack if they've got the money and time to do it, just keep your expectations of what's achievable reasonable.

All this good news brings out the worst in some people. There is nothing wrong with looking at expanded player markets. It doesn’t matter if it’s been thought of before. It hasn’t been seriously tried. There is a big difference. Drives you up the wall doesn’t t it mate?Jordan matilua south’s reserve grade to Super Bowl
yes the nrl should be targeting nfl juniors if it can

A few years ago the deluded twerps from the fumblers thought they could expand internationally by giving teams parts of the planet to target. From memory Essendon had India. I am not making this up. Now that is stupid. Targeting athletes from a game not that distant from our own may not be simple but it isn’t as stupid as that. What it requires is a full hearted strategy to be adopted across the top tier clubs. It has potential and it is definitely worth a go.We should thank him his tax dollars are going to help rugby league expand instead of afl
we thank you for the contribution
You can tell just how successful rl is becoming by the contributions of Union and AFL trolls. It shows you the people who want rugby league to do well and be number one and those that don’t
Yeh shame on the game for having ambitionCome back to us when this flow of 23 year old US college graduates are signing up for the NRL. Until then we'll park this 'idea' in the same basket as every other time RL and USA have been mentioned in the same sentence.
