How the hell can the Dragons get such crappy crowds? A top 4 team, on a 5 match winning streak, playing limited amount of games in Wollongong, against last years grand finalist.

The people of Wollongong really haven't come to the party this year. The crowds have been very disappointing.

A BIG portion of the crowd down there are St George based fans anyway, and this is shown in the massive traffic jam at Heathcote on the way back up to Sydney after the game.

The 4 remaining Kogarah games should all be close to 20k. The Parramatta game would have drawn that many if it wasn't for the torrential rain.

If we can secure a home semi, it should be at Kogarah.

i have no doubt if it was a friday night game at telstra we would get over 30k again. But this round hopefully will improve on the recent crowds we have been getting.

The fans over in Auckland need a good, solid kick up the jacksee. No test football that weekend, the Warriors 3 on the trot including 66 zip the week before and with a scent of the top 8 in the air. Poor showing.

The Warriors need to work on their marketing strategy to identify and implement a marketing campaign that ties Aucklanders to a tribal feel for the Warriors, such as is experienced in Brisbane and Newcastle where a large amount of fans will rock up through thick and thin. I remember in 2003/04? Newcastle were going to talk to Mick Watson about the Warriors business model, if anything the Warriors should talk to the Knights about their marketing success. If they don't fix it, they really are going to be reliant on Eric Watson's cash infusions and eventually he may well pull the pin.

After slipping behind last years figures for a while, we've now closed to within 70 of last years average crowd figure, a f*ckteenth of 1 percentage point (less than 0.5% of the top of my head). We may yet see another crowd increase this year, but backing up last year's increase is a good start and should be seen as such.

I think this is the most encouraging thing to see inregards to Round 18 and its crowds:

From: http://www.nrl.com/News/Latest/NewsArticle/tabid/76/NewsId/1901/Default.aspx
And it appears the fans are answering the call!
With Corporate hospitality completely sold out and game tickets selling fast, could this clash be the game to fill Olympic Park?

A crowd of 14K+ would be a nice and unexpected plus from down south of the border.

That said, the rest of the games on the weekend (with exception the Dragons match), don't look too positive. They do all have plenty of potential though.

Great Melbourne crowd. They should be getting 10,000 plus everyweek from now on.

Let's see if the NRL can get a week without any four figure crowds! Hasn't happened too many times this year.

I think you're comparing 2006's total crowd average with 2005's R17 average. We're still 800 behind last year's average but we are closing the gap. :)
