Those figures indicate we need an aggregate of 118,898 to break the 3-million barrier

Easily accomplished

Cowboys v Bulldogs @ DFS 22,000
Wests Tigers v Newcastle @ Telstra 17,000
Souths v Roosters @ Telstra 29,000
Canberra v Cronulla @ Canberra 11,000
Penrith v Warriors @ CUA 12,000
Manly v Saints @ Brookvale 16,000
Parramatta v Brisbane @ Parra 18,000
Melbourne v Titans @ Olympic 13,000

AGGREGATE of 138k :D

Well I was impressed with that crowd. It was looking AWFULLY bare at about 6:00pm but in the last 20 minutes before kick off and in the 10 minutes following it the hill filled up and various empty patches in the stands dissapeared. I'd guess there were a good thousand or more season ticket holders who didn't turn up which is understandable under the circumstances and makes the crowd all the more impressive. Well done to the Parra fans, plenty of them in attendence.

Have to say I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the crowd last night.

With the lack of build up, the monday night factor and the fact that Steeler/Dragons fans are notoriously fickle and never support a losing side, I think the crowd was excellent.

The nice day/night would of helped.

Good work Saints, i thought you could get atleast 10 thousand so i was plesantly.

How far off we beating last years average? Do we have to get 40 thousand to every game or something?

Depending on exactly which figures you believe (stats.rleague.com and this thread differ on season total by 115), we need to average 14,301 per match in round 25 for season 2007 to be the second best season on record for crowd averages (behind 2005 and ahead of 2006). Achieving that would also make it the second best season on record for total crowds (behind 1995 and ahead of 2005). If we average 14,877 in round 25 then we will break the 3m barrier for only the second time ever (after 1995).

The WIN stadium crowd was quite good. Better than some people on this forum were predicting.

I'm glad it was better than I expected. Amazingly that crowd last night was better than every Kogarah game this year.

Final HOME CROWD AVERAGES for sides no longer playing regular season home games:

Brisbane Broncos 32,868 (12x Suncorp)
Gold Coast 21,489 (10x Carrara, 2x Suncorp)
Bulldogs 16,488 (11x Telstra, 1x Suncorp)
Newcastle 15,880 (12x EnergyAustralia)
St George Illawarra 12,274 (6x WIN, 6x Kogarah)
Warriors 13,225 (12x Mt Smart)
Sydney Roosters 11,952 (12x SFS)
Cronulla Sutherland 10,692 (12x Toyota)

Am I correct in saying this is the first season in a long time (if not ever) all averages have been well and above the 5-figure mark?

Only a crowd of sub-5k in Canberra or Melbourne can see that happen now.

Nope - about 1k worse in both 1993 and 1997. (Source: http://nrl.has.it - Stats on Rleague)

Also:

- Storm are on track to gather their best average since 2001, and can better it with a full house this Sunday.
- Brisbane accrued their 4th highest average, behind a consecutive three-year patch from 1993 when they started out at ANZ.
- Cronulla's lowest average since 1998
- Roosters lowest average since 2002 (premiership year, no less)
- Warriors highest average since 2003
- (obviously) the highest average the Gold Coast franchise and any before it ever managed.

I often need to alter figures obtained on game day to match what Thursday's Big League says. That's not to say that I don't stuff that up though :p

From my corner, I do my darndest to make sure the figures match whatever is on www.nrlstats.com

Also Paul's site equates "home" and "neutral" games differently - for instance one the Titans games at Suncorp has actually been attributed to the Broncos as a home match. My averages are always done the same as the NRL in that sense - regardless of where you play if your team name is listed first in the draw it's your home game.
