Further to Preachers report I was fined a large amount by the Dragonarmy forum mainly for having nothing much to show while doing push-ups and banned from their site . I am currently talking to Hull about becoming one of their supporters

Well Quigs,

Our inaugural "Mad Monday" was a bit low on numbers, as I think some may have been scared off by the pre post reports of the drinking prowess of some members. We did have a couple of "call-ins" that felt compelled to be part of the day and a few that stayed for the day.
With Father Ted doing push ups in his jocks, and Big Pat commandering a council streetsweeper, entertainment was of a high standard.
Gaz was going to call in to have a beer with us, but dislocated his shoulder getting out of his car. Jason Ryles coundn't make it as, naturally, he was suspended. Mr Tired and Emotional was going to come into the TAB bar to see all his devotees, but upon surveying those that were present, realised he had no fans in attendance, and steered clear of the infected area.
All in all, a good time was had by all, and I hope this can grow into a well attended annual event, that may even be able to attract interstate interest.
The Dragons Forum Mad Monday, soon to be the "Hottest Ticket in Town";-)
a late surge in winners made my day that much better. as for doust he would have sh*t himself, if had of walk in to see you,me,father ted.

Perhaps it has been mentioned elsewhere but the St George Leagues Club Journal this week has the Chairman's report from Warren Lockwood.

Forever searching for the cheerful spin, Warren reckons the season wasn't so bad because "the NRL team finished only two wins out of making the finals..."

Followed by 'congratulations' to the team..... FFS!

Mr Lockwood, we have a silly top eight finals system. By the logic you applied, wooden spooners Penrith finished only three wins out of making the finals...

The reality is that we finished just one loss away from the wooden spoon.

I'd have far more respect if the Chairman's report put the season in a true perspective. Instead, we were simply delivered more evidence of the club's acceptance of mediocrity.

Well thank you for your report Preach...

I too often feel that rejection syndrome when it comes to people not respecting my age and my obvious knowledge of the game. The youngens of today just shake their heads and talk about old farts rambling again.

If permitted I would one day attend such a function but I would probably get a bit pissed off with you blokes rambling on about the 60's. And with piss onboard I would probably take the scissors to your jerseys. So it could with respect get a bit ugly.

Then again I would have to listen to Willow going on about that bloody fence again.

As mentioned somewhere in here sometime ago.

I am "NEARLY" feeling sorry for some of you Stain supporters.

I am pretty sure you blokes need the winds of change to whistle through the corridors of power. Good luck.

Cheers

I'd be quite happy to talk with you about Panda , Stevie Edmonds , Rick Bourke , Steve Kneen and Mick Mullane et al . Funny thing about age the players seem bigger and braver than they do today .

And they don't carry on like bloody Pommy Soccer Players - waving their arms and crying to the whistle blower or liney. Fair dinkum when I see that I just hope that someone drops them with a delicate short right.

Cheers

Quigs,

Even allowing for the jumper cutting, you'd be more than welcome at any function I'm involved in organising. The numbers of people that can relate to the golden days are thinning and your contributions would be appreciated. ;-)

love the sixties, saints winning grand finals, great cars, good music, nice family shows, people actually talking to one another instead of sending emails, and did i mention st george winning everything, at least some of the old bastards have seen premierships, and now as some of our clocks are winding down, instead of being happy in our advancing years, we must put up with a moron who can't even provide us with our home ground for next season.

Big Pat I agree with you too.

The game is just not the same. Your club might be run by a moron... agreed. But the game itself has been run by morons for way to long, and it is getting worse.

500 million rule changes - sunday night GF's - game stoppages for ads - farkin' stupid non conflicting compulsory away strips - etc etc etc

There are no characters in todays game. Just programmed robots - it is just boring.

Someone delivers a bell ringing legit tackle - they replay it 18 times to see if there was a discretion - by that time the homosexual with the flag is on the field - non offending great defending tackler is on report.

Wouldn't it be great if we could transport some of these modern day believers back in time - drop their arses in the Sheridan or the Noble and let them watch the match of the day like it was meant to be played.

Two packs of forwards tearing into one another for twenty minutes... trying to gain the ascendency - ref calling over both captains... "settle boys" then let the game of league commence.

None of this putting your hand up "gee I am tired coach - I need a spell" run off - run on crap.

Naaarh its all bullsh!t now.

And don't get me going about the biff.

Psssts But at least you blokes have some long distant memories to relive - mine are only fleeting glimpses of what of could of been and a life long hatred of Hollywood Hartley, Manly - and a hating respect of the brillance of Bobby Fulton...

I might have to live to 106 to see a lap of honour.

Cheers

I like how they advertise the State of Origin each year and show biff in the adds. Footage from the 80's early 90's as there has been no biff since.

They make it out to be an absolute biff-a-thon and all you get is wrestling, wrestling and more wrestling.

Totally spot on Quigs. The game is becoming boring. All tailored towards promoting the teams that lack support to generate more interest and more supporters from elsewhere. Only problem is they are gonna lose alot of the true blue supporters who have followed the game since birth.

Saints have no chance of winning a premiership. They have a huge supporter base and will always get a huge load of people to a game. Saints are the whipping boys and have been for a while. The NRL use them to get supporters to other grounds only.

If the Dragons struggle to get 10,000 to a home game, the NRL may step in and give them a premiership or a finals appearance e.g Melbourne, Tigers, Manly etc. Notice how low there crowds were prior to them getting to a premiership?

I think of our current lot Creagh might be the only bloke tough enough for the sixties , the rest would soil themselves in fright . I used to love how Justice was a on field proposition . If some hard basta*d did the dirty on one of your blokes it was up to your enforcers ( usuallly forwards ) to dish out summery justice ( the get square ) . The crowd used to love the drama of it all . The referee allowing natural justice to occur . The evil doer getting his just deserts in front of thousands . Great stuff ! Even the sharks with Tommy bishop throwing a punch and running behind big Cliff Watson . He'd take on a belt up our entire forward pack these days .God I miss it .

Remember the contempt Bobby Fulton earned when he took a dive , they named him Bozo the clown and it stuck . Different era , tougher men .

Mate I am stationed in outer mongolia when it comes to syd-a-ney rugby league. I am on the coast of Central Qld, but the rumor mongers are telling me that Kimmorley might be going to the Dogs.... and hopefully free up some cash for a Willie.

Hope they are right....

Dallas Donnelly ring a bell - well he certainly did ring some bells.

What about the old Fibros -v- the Mongrel silvertails clashes with idiot Hartley running around the centre like a mongrel dog chasing its tail.

Guys I used to go and pay my hard earned to go and watch other clubs go around because you knew it was going to be on.

This old sharkie even went and watched a lot of the old souths -v- stains clashes at the SCG. Remember Satts getting sent off because someone in the scrum decked Henderson the hooker. The ref Keith page I think it was dispatched Satts because he thought the Saints No 12 (hooker in those days) was dead and someone had to go for the offence. Page had no idea who did it.... but someone had to go.

Arrrrhhhh memories things you just don't forget.
