An upset at Pia today. Lezignan beat Pia 28-20! That is 7 on the trot for the pink boys.

This from Cliff Sprcklen about Lezignan, looks like a tough run in a couple of weeks.

Just speaking to Richard Gelis, one of the co-Chairmen of Lezignan. He tells me Lezignan will play their Lord Derby Cup BEFORE the Challenge Cup game at Oldham. Likely to be Thursday 2nd April.
But a big demand on Lezignan. LDC Semi on the Thursday, Challenge Cup on the Sunday at Oldham. Suggests the LDC is the priority.

Thanks for the score.

The LER should get back to normal this week in the run to the semis.

Only a couple of postponed games to catch up with and a few regular rounds.

Another postponed games result.

Carcassonne beat Villeneuve 66-18

And the other game between St Gaudens and Lyon was forfeited by St Gaudens for some reason, so Lyon get an 18-0 win :?

I think that's all of the postponed games played now, so it should be back to the normal rounds.

Apparently St Gau management didn't order a bus to go to Lyon & asked players to take own transport which they declined as they had not yet been paid their previous months wages!

Yes because the manager that normally does this has been suspended brawl earlier in the season and is not allowed to have any interaction with the club.

This is from Cliff Spracklen

Just when I'm feeling very positive abiut the sport there is a set back. It looks possible that St Gaudens may not make the long trip to Lyon this weekend. Jean-alain Rives has not ordered a bus and asked the players to use their own transport. The players refused not having been paid recently. But then Rives is supposed to have been suspended by the Federation so should not technically be involved. Hope a solution is found as it was a rare chance for Lyon to show what they can do with a full team (minus the very promising Georges Lankri who has returned to RU after the problems at Lyon a couple of weeks ago).
Ah you win some you lose some.

... and then there is this

:?

Cliff Spracklen said:
There is bizarre, French bizarre and then just plain bazaar! The latest I have just heard concerning Jean-Alain Rives of St Gaudens, is that he has responded positively to the offer from Nicolas Larrat, to be the second French rep on the European RLF Board, alongside, Larrat, Lewis and Gary Tasker.
Bizarre because JAR was President of the LER, but not voted onto the Federation Exec Committee in December. French bizarre because of recent suspensions of St Gaudens directors.
But true bazaar in that Larrat has probably headed off a potential crisis around St Gaudens. After the suspensions it was rumoured that JAR was flirting the idea of switching St Gaudens to Union, something that occassionally happens in France, when you get fall-outs and suspensions of officials.
Being offered and accepting this position almost certainly guarantees any overtures from Union will be firmly put in the bin, and is a great facer in tthe egotistical world of sport club management. But then JAR has a wealth of experience in the sport as player, Director and Chair and hopefully this will re-invigorate the commitment to make St Gaudens strong again. The club has suffered financially this years the above confirms. Maybe it will also be an opportunity to bring in new blood.

Todays results coming in from Cliff. No real surprises except maybe for the Limoux v Pia draw.

Cliff Spracklen said:
First day of the "Extra Games" yesterday.
At Carpentras SO Avignon comfortably despatched Lyon-Villeurbanne. This was the last match this year for Avignon's prodigy, France Junior international, Tony Gigot, who is now on his way, with best wishes from all at SOA, to Harlequins Academy At just 18 Tony has great prospects in the game.

At Carcassonne a stroll for Carcassonne against a St Gaudens suffering internal strife. Jean-Christophe Borlin thought earlier this week he would be playing at Whitehaven for Toulouse, played for St Gaudens.

The other match was much closer, sounds a cracker, with a drop by Limoux's Nicolas Piccolo in the last minute securing a draw. The result guarantees Limoux top place in the table in advance of the play-offs.

Today sees Carpentras take on a UTC side with lots of SL experience in the squad today, and Lezignan taking on Villeneuve. Both games at Lezignan.
