Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson has stressed the importance of becoming a Member of the South Sydney Football Club, following co-owner Russell Crowe’s video to Members which has attracted national media interest in the past 48 hours.
Mr Richardson reiterated Mr Crowe’s comments earlier this week, saying Membership is the off-field focus of our Club.
“We’re the number one supported Club in Sydney in terms of Membership but we need to continue to grow our support, and we need all Rabbitohs fans to become Members to do that,” Mr Richardson said.
“Last year we had 6,651 Ticketed Members and 12,540 total Members. We were number one in Sydney.
“So far for the 2009 season we have 6,068 Ticketed Members and 10,178 total Members. We have set ourselves a target of 8,000 Ticketed Members for this coming season, but our eventual goal is to have 15,000 Ticketed Members each and every year.”

I signed up for christmas.....make sure you try to convince anyone that is a souths supporter to buy membership so we can get to 8,000. Mind you, were did the 25,000 members we had in re-admission go to?

Didn't we get to 6,600 in the first few rounds of last season Newc? If so, we're already ahead of last year and looking pretty good to achieve the 8,000 target this year... excellent!

After an unsuccessful season we have already overtaken last years target and are on track for target 2009.

With a semi finals appearance and a good year we could easily aim for 10-12k in 2010

That's quite an achievement in the current economic climate.... with all the Return to Redfern hype and a bit of hard work and some luck we may even get to 9,000 this season (perhaps a little optimistic though). I'd love to know where those 18,000 members we had after reinstatement went... hopefully they'll come back if we make the semis and do well.

I'm not sure, you could be right... it was a bloody lot though.

Surely Souths would have all their details in a database somewhere... we should be bombarding them all with emails, letters and phone calls to rejoin the club.

Im actully severly confident of this number because i saw it last year and wondered where the f them members knocked off too. Granted, membership prices have rised and im positive if membershipp was around the 150-170 range we could get many more members and make more money....i may do some calculations but it may be hard due to knowing if it is a junoir, concession or adult price.

Ill add this to my list of quiries to souths membership team when i ring up.

I have no doubt with a semi final appearence this season,we would get 10,000 ticketed members next year,and crack 15,000 all up.

Oh, no doubt at all. We need a solid season this one. If we can get TWO seasons in the finals with gradual increse in performance we could get to 15K by then. That i would get pretty positive with out ability to do so.
Hopefully the economic situation resolves itself by the end of the yeah cause it looks likes its gonna be ugly early on.
