It's good we're getting rid of some of the terrible crowds. There is a huge difference between 9950 and 10050. Although the average compared to past years isn't much different, the crowds are more consistent, and we aren't relying on one game to pull it right up, hopefully this trend continues over the next few years.

Really?

It sure is.

Might explain why I too was at Etihad Stadium on Friday and took one tram from the opposite side of the city straight to the ground without the need for a change.

You could've caught the 96 straight up from St Kilda Beach to Spencer Street, hopped off outside SC Station and walked the rest, not very far at all.

Nice assumption on "what I don't know though".

I dont live anywhere near the 96 tram but thanks for the travel advice. I live east of st kilda road (which is still st kilda-3182) and to walk to the beach is at least 20 mins. But yea just because you got one tram automatically means everyone else does! What a pathetic arguement. I got one train to the grand final from my hotel in sydney but that doesnt mean everyone only needs one train to anz. I know plenty people in melb who have to change trains for the mcg also. Maybe you could help them with better travel ideas.

hopefully the 40k the NRL is providing to market monday night games will come in useful to keep it above 10K v canberra.

ROUND 5
Dragons v Broncos 16,400
Titans V Storm 21,400
Bulldogs V Warriors 16,800
Cowboys V Tigers 17,200
Rabbitohs V Knights 13,200
Panthers V Roosters 15,600
Sea Eagles V Sharks 15,800
Eels V Raiders 10,100

Av= 15,800

Surely the titans have no excuse this week- friday night, top of the table clash, defending premiers in town. anything under 20k is a poor effort i feel

You guys have jinxed it - there will be a sub 10k crowd on monday night for sure!

But overall good crowd numbers. With the broncs at the bottom of the ladder their numbers will drop off, but not by a massive number. I reckons they will still end up with a season average over 30k.

The thing with the Broncs crowd numbers is the awesomeness of Lang Park and the very large amount of opposition supporters in SE QLD. These factors arent really influenced that much by the form of the Broncos. They were pretty bad last year, but the season average was still larger than the previous year.

But next home game is Sharks, a very poorly followed team up here, so it will be a puny crowd.

Dont want to sound like a tear but two thirds were dogs fans. Where were u rabbits fans?

Please. Obviously you were not at the game. Crowd would've been 50-50. The entire Western side was all Rabbitohs, as was the Eastern side between the 10m lines. The four corners and level 4 were all Bulldogs. As I said 50-50.

It was a good crowd from two well supported teams. Would've been 40k I reckon had it been in the afternoon!

Agree with this. I think we could see every game bar the Monday night game get 15K+ fans. I could see us getting an average of around 15-16K.

Considering there are no real big matches in the round that would be a fantastic result.

I am starting to get more confident we can break the crowd record again this year. The big crowds aren't getting much bigger but i think we are starting to get rid of the really poor crowds which have plagued us for a long time.

We'll see about that around Origin time.

I know its only one game and i don't want to jump the gun but is it possible that we are finally at long long last seeing the Souths huge hidden armchair support actually motivate itself to come out? It has always amazed my how they haven't gotten more people.

On the back of a great game for the sport and a win and with the memberships issue working for them frankly hey should get 16,000 next round. They really should.

Western, as in the members section? It was half full (Tunnel side)...

The other side wasn't all Rabbitohs, quite a few Bulldog supporters there... I thought it was around 40-60 in Canterbury-Bankstown favour. Anyways whoever had more supporters is irrelevant; it was a great crowd for a Monday night game!

They were barely half full. There were bugger all souths fans outside of that. The rabbits got booed hardcore when they first came out. I stick by what I said

There was an empty bay on the Rabbitohs tunnel side, looked terrible.

Yeah could see that (empty bay) on the coverage.

The Dogs' dominated side looked far larger than the Bunnies side from the glimpses I saw of it.

When you are sitting amongst a group of your own fans you always think you are louder than you are.
The boos were not heard from the tunnel side so you can hardly say booed hardcore. Likewise the Dogs were booed quite loudly when they came out but wouldnt have been as loud from the other side.

Maybe the Dogs had more fans but they were hardly heard all night

I was sitting on the tunnel side much closer to the Souths fans and I can tell you, you are wrong.
