One of those is in AFL heartland and one is in Rugby heartland. These things need to be taken into account

I know ther's an ALF heartland full of Victorians, Serial Killers and Red necks, but where's this mysterious Rugby* Union heartland you speak of?

Parramatta, Saints, Souths, Wests and Canterbury are all averaging far more than the Titans and that only stands to get worse - the Bulldogs have the Saints clash coming up...

Yep, the "big 5" Sydney clubs are all playing well at the moment and the game is getting some excellent crowds.

The Broncos are the big let down, but are doing well concidering they are battling it out for the wooden spork or wooden fred (F*cking Rediculous Eating Device). The other big contender, the Sharks, well I really can't see them averaging 32k...

At last check.. that 32k is still quite a lot higher than everyone else..

Should increase slightly with the game against the Titans next week also.

32k might be a lot higher than everyone else but by previous standards for Brisbane it's pisspoor.

At a guess I thought they might have been referring to Canberra - which unfortunately has become more Union-dominated since the Brumbies rise to fame a while back.

An average of 32k may be lower than our average was in 08 and 09, but it is higher than the previous 13 or so years (was higher in 93,94,95).

That said, in most years I'm sure the average was much higher after only 4 games, no idea how to check though. The first 3 home games this year didn't have the same drawing power as the first 3 last year (Cowboys, Melbourne and Dragons vs Cowboys, Warriors and Sharks).

Unless the teams form turns around in a big way it should drop off some more. The last time we had a horror start to a season, 1999, we had a couple of below 10k crowds.. can't see that happening again.

Brumbies have a decent team and have for 15 years, Raiders have been sh*t for 15.

RL as a sport though has heaps more support up there, but once the Raiders start winning more than losing, they'll show the Unionites.

Melbourne have the third best home average in the league, so that defence doesn't fly didginub.

Canberra's average is almost 15,000 as well.

The let down is Brisbane - down from close to 40k average this time last year, to 32k... and big time is the Gold Coast, averaging only 16k.

Parramatta, Saints, Souths, Wests and Canterbury are all averaging far more than the Titans and that only stands to get worse - the Bulldogs have the Saints clash coming up...

These statistics are where?

If Melbourne have the third best home average in the league, imagine what they could do if they didnt have AFL sapping thier crowd strength. Last year Melbourne finished 3rd last on Crowds, that probably will improve a bit, depends on if they keep sticking by their team.

Of the Storm home games this year, two have been grudge matches against past GF opponents, and the amazing show of support after they were busted for cheating.

Broncos have had a less than ideal start this year with opponents, I mean the Sharks have never had a crowd above 30K in Brisbane in at least the past 10 years, and even the Knights, outside of the reopening of Lang Park, certainly have never been a 'blockbuster' team, so there is no need to fear yet.

Broncos v Titans is selling well for Round 10, and has already outsold both the Knights and Sharks game, so is on its way to 40K, which will help the Broncos average, and then after that they have some teams which have strong supporter bases in Qld to help keep the crowds up in Rabbitohs, Tigers, Dragons and Eels...

Double Header as well will go close to selling out regardless of the Broncos form, which again will help ensure the Broncos will pick up another 25K crowd there.

Anyway as for rep ticket sales, we can put Country v City Origin tonight as a 7,000 sell out:

Here you go, fill your boots...

IMO, the teams that have excuses for their attendences besides form are

Cronulla, they have little support and huge problems
Manly, their stadium is crap and they are geographically isolated
Penrith, their brand is a bit "bogan". Hopefully they can fix this and become a powerhouse (in attendences)
Gold Coast, their tickets are way too expensive
Sydney, little support after a shocking year
Newcastle, stadium issues

All the other teams are doing okay/well considering how they are playing

so despite all the claims that Sydney is a saturated market with too many teams which should be culled/merged/relocated they are averaging less than 1000 less than non-Sydney.

I think it's time we start punting non-Sydney teams.

Sydney crowds are all boosted by the 'away' crowds when they play teams from two suburbs away...

Yeah seeing as capacity is only 22,000 that would be a tough ask
use your brain for f**k sake.
