Personally I thought he was pretty average in the games I seen him play in NYC but I was shot down because the argument for him was his age. If he is still a similar player to then, he won't be our savior.

I think the excitment about him is his speed Ima.

Ausguy he is doing the pre season according the website. Also I love how we are putting so much hope in a toyota cup player who is coming off two season ending injuries which included only 15 minutes in 2010 pre season. I wonder how many people on here have actually seen him play(more than that 15 minutes).

Not knocking him but gee our fan base knows how to over hype and put pressure on young kids. Hope he does live up to it but far out...

He was 16 year old winger playing in the U20's & was our best player everry game i saw.
Giving away 4 years when you are 16 is big thing & he was hitting like a train.

Pickard.

Wasn't he only 16 or 17?? Doubt he is anywhere near ready for first grade yet.

He Played NSWCup this year which is pretty ridiculously impressive. While the standard is obviously far below FG, he might only be a couple of years away.

Luke Pickerd is an 18 year old centre. Top try scorer for SG ball. He then got promoted to 20s. Definately wont be playing first grade next year. Defence was suspect in 20s but that can be fixed. He lacks in size but is still very strong and will be able bulk up more. He is extremely fast and skillful. He can play center, fullback and five-eight. His best position is left centre and will probably be in line to replace best when he retires.

Fullback: Gardner (Guaranteed. Stapleton can cover if injured)

Right wing: Williams (experienced and should get nod. Can goalkick which is a bonus)
Right centre: Collis ( Good footwork but cant bust a tackle. Specialist right centre.)
Left centre: Best (better centre than winger. Defence can be a problem. Left hand ball carry allows him to be a specialist left centre unlike pomeroy. Great spped and fend)
Left Wing: gordan/tongia/mills (all have lots of speed which is good. Whoever is best under highball and best in defence in trials should get the nod. Mills would be my choice)
Five-eight: Graham (Guaranteed. Better 6 than 7. Great defender, big frame, great kicking game, great cutout, great organisation, good running game. Pretty much a younger, fitter, more determined barret)
Halfback: Smith/Kelly/Porter ( Smith is favourite but no guarantee. Whoever has the best kicking game, defence, running game, organisation and throws the best ball in the trials should get the nod. Unfortunately all these players are known only to have 1 out of these 5 qualities!!!!!!!!!!. I'd start with smith and put kelly 7 in NSW to develop some more)
Props: Snowden, Douglas (Snowden guaranteed. Douglas has to lift his game a bit)
Hooker: Morris: (Does the hard yards and dangerous close to line with some smart plays)
Backrow: Topou, Smith,Gallen ( Topou left side second row good hole hitter. Can also link with Best. Smith right side secondrow. Bit more mobile than gallen. Gallen lock extra prop with better workload than smith. Can link with gardner)
Bench: Cordoba, aiton, Pomeroy, Vave ( Cordoba really improved and could put pressure on douglas for starting spot. Aiton great impact player. Pomeroy could end up a great impact backrower. More direct running and no more defensive headaches outwide. Vave if he gets fit could end up a great impact prop.)

Matt wright/Leutele: Both will put pressure on collis position. Wont fit in anywhere else.
Mannah: Needs to start in NSW but i believe he can get back in the side when his fitness improves.
Brod Wright: Backup if forwards get injured
Clayton: Dont know much about him. Heard he is a talented prop.
Stapleton: Backup for gardner.
Townsead: has longway to go
Probably forgot about players which means they cant be too good

Thats the guy....ive only seen about 20 minutes worth but the 20 minutes I seen of him he scored on his first touch of the footy in the 20's and didn't look out of place in a higher age group. Yeah I very much doubt he is ready for firsts but I dont think it would hurt having him train with the big boys

If we have blokes running around in our squad like Porter and John Williams its only a matter of time till this kid gets the call up

Pom is the best centre in the club, why do people leave him out ?

Well id rather have him playing in the backrow off the bench
Its a better option than TT IMO
Otherwise Best plays on the wing next thing you know we have the slowest backline in the comp... again. if we dont anyway.

I know this is just a fun thread as it is impossible to predict just how some of these young players signed to the Club or who were already with the Club will go in the off season and beyond.

I think barring any stunning trial form from a young player Flanagan will pick the most experienced side he can.

I think it would be something similar to this;

1. Gardner

2. Williams
3. Collis
4. Pommeroy
5. Best

6. Graham
7. Smith

8. Snowden
9. Morris
10. Douglas
11. Smith
12. Tupou
13. Gallen

14. Cordoba
15. Wright
16. Mannah
17. Aiton

As the season progresses some of the young players are sure to impress and of course injuries will hit the team and the likes of Mills, Tongia etc. could certainly claim spots in the team on a regular basis.
