He can do it however he wants. AGM is a legitimate forum.

Yep. In fact go to any AGM from BHP Billiton, your Strata Units or the local Lions Club and there is always an old fossil bitching about something. Fitzy is no different. Usually they just embarrass themselves. He's lucky that he got it right this time. I bet next time he'll just embarrass himself (again).

Exactly. Fitzy is just proving that he's the dick everyone always thought he was, hence why he's no longer there.

yes i agree there, our strata AGM should be over in a hour at most but thanks to a old whining fossil it goes for about 3 hours.

Again you attempt to deflect the problems by claiming that they are excusable because some of the protagonists are unpaid or amateurs.

That's exactly what I'm doing. What's your point?

These guys are amateurs. Now you want to complain about it?

I recall that part of 3P's platform was that accepting mediocrity was part of the club culture and that changing that culture was paramount to their ideals....

I think they were talking about what happens on the field - you know, the only part of the club most fans give a f**k about?

The board have done their job - they've given us a coaching staff that could get us some quality players and change the culture in the playing staff.

As for changing the culture in the boardroom, it's not the board's job to change the culture of the members - because they represent the members.

So if the board don't give a f**k whether Eric Grothe has been a financial member for 30 months or 36 months then they represent most members just fine.

No-one cares Gronk, can't you see that? Or at least, not enough people care that there is going to be any change. The board f**ked up, it was pointed out and fixed, and everybody has moved on. The only people still crowing about it are the media desperate for a story at this time of year, the minority of opposition fans who will take any excuse to kick an opposition club while they think it's down, and the Eels 'fans' who want to see the board fail, and think this vindicates them.

The neutrals all stopped giving a f**k halfway through reading the initial article in the paper.

They may be amateurs (meaning that they are unpaid) but by no means are they (supposed to be) nuffies. When I voted for them it was on the basis that they were high calibre individuals, who are experts in their respective fields. Well that was the spin that I swallowed. Accordingly, I expect better.

No they were pushing to end mediocrity on and off the field.

Pou contrary to your opinion, 99.9% of the punters out there don't want the Board to fail. The vast majority however would agree that they are not looking and performing as professionally as expected.

That's where I disagree Gronk.
On the field, potentially anyway, we have improved right across the board. New coaching staff including Nolan, a great buy which will be proved in years to come. On field recruitment has been excellent I believe, and Nolan is shoring up the juniors with the best available from other clubs.
Off the field, the Leagues club was our major gripe. Two new bars/restaurants, the TAB reinstated, elevators being installed etc...... This has been a major turnaround from the tacky pokie palace Denis turned the joint into.

I actually reckon they are doing great things. These little misdemeanours along the way are disappointing, but hardly suicidal incidents.

Well I didn't vote for them, and whatsmore I don't think anyone else would do a better job. So I don't really care.

It was a pretty poor oversight but I also understand how it would have been made - who ever would have thought that Eric Grothe Senior would be ineligible to sit on the board of the Parramatta Eels?

It's just something nobody but Denis Fitzgerald would ever think about. And he only cares because he's looking for any angle to discredit them.

This is about the Football Club Suity (I know that the margins are blurred). Yes the club board seem to be kicking goals, although I haven't seen the numbers so I don;t know if they have increased their profit.

As we line up to the blocks before the 2012 season, I agree that the footy club coach and playing staff look like they can do better than 2009/2010. Hopefully we can have a good season.

some seem to be missing the point that the EGS issue was with the board of the leagues club, a club which has a turnover off memory of about $60M a year.

The are a lot of rules and regulations involved in the running of a licensed club that need to be followed by law. It is not just about a footy club. We have highly paid staff that should be around everything that is to be meet whether it is the club constitution, Licensed club act or office of liquer and gaming. Failure to meet some of these would involve more than embarrassing oversight.

This is about the Football Club Suity

When it comes to the board(s) they are almost one and the same.
If we are talking about the footy club on it's own, I don't give a f**k tbh because they don't control anything that I'm remotely interested in.

Pretty sure the fans only care about results on the field.

No, my opinion is that only a tiny minority of 'fans' want the board to fail (0.1% maybe?). Unfortunately most of them post here.

Depends on your expectations.

I expect them to get us the best coaching and playing staff they can without sending the club broke. So far they're looking pretty good.

That's pretty much spot on

The Tahoe room was closed for a period of time and I know it didn't effect their pokie dollars

Just on Pou Pou's attempted point that the Board members are Amateurs and are not paid.

Each board Member is paid $10,000 a year, plus a whole raft of other things they get (club shirt, tie, access to 1 fly away game, so on and so forth). $10,000 a year to sit in on 8 meetings (I think) were held this last year. So $1,250 dollars per meeting.

That is why the people we elect have actual jobs, and their role on the board is a part time position.

They set the direction of the club, and it is the CEO's role to execute to the letter of the law and constitution.

Hence why our chairman looked at Bob Bentley and asked him if he had checked that.

0.1% ? Hardly worth the effort to troll them really. Unless of course you get a kick out of it. ;-)

On this, does this apply to the footy club board or the leagues club board? Or are the entitlements the same?

Except within my own personal sphere of experience, that 0.1% constitutes about a third of posters on this board.

So while you might be insignificant in the scheme of things, you're significant to me.

Unless of course you get a kick out of it. ;-)
