I don't get that either. And to further on, when it comes down to raising issues in regards to the NRL side, are they supposed to be brought up at the Leagues club AGM where no-one gives a s**t? Those attending tonight will want to hear about developments in regards to the NRL side of things, but won't get a chance to do so unless they go to the League's club AGMs, but to do that they have to be a League's club member, which most football club members aren't. I hope the board keep to their promise and get the NRL club under the same banner as the lower grades so that football club members can actually get the full entitlement of their memberships. Isn't that the selling point to becoming a member in the first place?

you may well be correct in what you say but if you've been to previous football club AGM's you'll find that NRL issues are infact raised and the directors are happy to answer them...but I guess you wouldn't know that if you've never gone to a football club AGM.

Tonight's AGM is only on matters of the NSW Cup, Jersey Flegg and SG Ball

No point whinging about anything else cause it wont be put through.

Having been to a fair few FC AGM's trust me more than those 3 grades will be discussed and most probably by the Board and those asked to speak to the Annual report and the financial report.

I am expecting some questions about last year at this meeting as the FC while it only "Runs" the Cup Ball and Matt's site (Flegg being under 20s and now called NYC and completely under the control of the PNRLC) is part of the Football Operations area and is a means for members to ask about NRL things. In the very least about membership due to the relationship of purchasing a membership from the NRL club and getting a membership to the football club.

But hey, what would I know.

Jodeci brought it up.

The football club don't control the NRL team, yet they appoint a CEO who does.
The leagues club do control the NRL team, yet they appoint a CEO who doesn't.

It's all very confusing.

Yeah, I wish they'd do something about it but I'm guessing it was put in the too hard basket (at least I hope that's all it was)

no, a question was asked about stream lining the organisation and allowing the Football club to run the NRL side, the person posing the question stated it was part of the Print material in the election campaign by the last successful ticket including the chairman.

The reply from the chairman was that he did not believe that to be the case (the details in the print material) and that the way the club runs now is the best way forward with the League club funding and running the NRL club.

I will say that remark raised a few eyebrows.

On the whole, I would score the AGM 10 - 1 to the floor. Most questions the board seemed completely unable to answer.

The biggest one of those came from Denis, who asked if Mr Eric Grothe Snr had been appointed to the leagues club board via the Special condition in the FC charter (at least two FC board member must sit on the board of the Leagues club). If that were true, when Mr Fitzgerald terminated his employment at the club in May 2009, Mr Grothe Snr was not a member of the Leagues club. To be a board member of either club you have to be a voting member (hence a member for 3 years or more). Even if Mr Grothe joined on the day Denis was booted, he still does not qualify.

On the desk, that was meet with Mr Spagnolo attempting to cover the mic while he said to Mr Bently, something along the lines of "Did we check that". before he actually got to covering up the mic. The point was taken under advisement for further investigation.

Thanks for the info MITS. I'm happy to hear that the selling of meat trays or getting paid to perform at the club wasn't an issue. Talk about making mountains out of molehills!
I'm sure the suggestion that Guru hasn't been a member for three years is wrong and we have nothing to worry about there either.

I think it's good that Denis Fitzgerald is still happy to turn up to the AGM and help the elected board work out the best way to run the club.

It's clearly still a work in progress, but that's what happens when you have elected officials running things rather than private owners.

I spoke to a director after the meeting regarding guru's situation and said he was more than confident that Senior is eligible to sit on the board and he is current voting member as he was a member of the club for longer than 2 years, they said they just wanted to make sure that was the case..

I'm sure the Guru situation will be cleared up. Checking his membership status would have been one of the first things they did before appointing him to the board.

MITS - Do have minutes this year? I was unable to attend unfortunately. Last year's report you put together was impressive.

Surprised that a Leagues Club matter got raised (EGS) at a Football Club AGM. I'm sure EGS is a life member of the footy club. I know when certain Leagues Club questions got raised at this function last year the board failed to respond to them.

Why didn't they just ask EGS his membership status ? I am sure he would have been there last night.

Because Fitzy prefers to stick it into Spags. It is quite clear that Fitzy makes Spag nervous IMO.

I think Fitzy makes most people nervous

EGS was on stage, with Spags. EGS had every opportunity to answer the question. Spags response was to talk to the acting CEO Bob Bentley and from there state that the matter would be taken under advisement.

While EGS may have been a member for 2 years, unless he is a member for 3 financial years then he fails to qualify to be a director.

Also Freak2, sorry first year in many I haven't taken notes, I was more interested in observing than I was in writing 4 pages of notes and only getting the impact of them when I read them back.

Why didn't you mention such a big development as a failed no-confidence vote?

How many people were there and they couldn't get one person to second a motion of no-confidence?

Doesn't sound like 'the floor' is even close to 10-1 against the board.
