The Entrance led 38-0 at HT with some very poor D from Burwood. 2nd half saw a much improved effort from Burwood with it 10 all making the final score 48-10.

Auburn 7
Burwood 4

Here is the problem for St Johns - no depth - the Shield side has won 1 game from 7. Hekka Nanai and Karl Filiga both went off injured yesterday, Conrad T has only played 2 games and they had another sent off yesterday.

Kingsgrove Colts stuck it with St Johns today in a much improved performance. The Colts had their chances to win it but just lacked that killer blow

in the later game Auburn came from behind to beat Blacktown 42-36.

Auburn rested alot of their side for next weeks game with St Johns. A few of the Sydney Shield side played.

Improved Colts, a poor St Johns, or a bit of both? Some new players for Colts, perhaps, or did St Johns rest a few of their stars?

No new players. Just a much improved Colts side. They were down 20-4 at the break and won the 2nd half 20-12. St Johns had Karl Filiga back, they didn't rest anyone, but did look a little bit off their game. It was 12 on 11 at one stage with both sides with a player in the bin, St Johns had El-Zbadieh sent off.

The Colts have a tough few games coming up with Windsor, Mounties and Wenty in the next three rounds.

The Colts have a good bunch of blokes playing for each other and deserve a win, which im sure will be just around the corner.

St Johns led 10-0 after 10 minutes. Hekka Nanai went off injured 5 minutes later. St Johns started to bomb scoring opportunities and give away penalties when in possession. H/T 16-4.

Another try just after H/T then Karl Filiga went off injured and then ElZeb was sent off. St Johns scored 2 tries when 1 short but continued to bomb opportunities and Colts used the overlap well in the last 20 minutes to build their score. The colts winger Manning scored 4 tries.

A poor performance by St Johns and Colts showed attack that perhaps has not been apparent in the previous games.

Kingsgrove were very happy with the result and took a team photo at the end of the game.

I dont know if it will happen but by playing on sunday there is the opportunity for the Bulldogs State Cup bench to back up for St Johns and Auburn the next day.

Auburn have lost Ed Lavulo, who split his time between Sydney Shield and Bundy. He has joined Wests State Cup team.

Auburn have signed Pita Maile from Melbourne. Played toyota cup for them in 2009 & 2010

Hearing Auburn have been a bit difficult to deal with when it comes to player releases. Seems they have an attitude that it's their way or nobody else's way...

Todays results from Begnell:

St Johns 32 Auburn 22 in Bundy

Auburn 60 St Johns 26 in Sydney Shield

Both clubs were well short of full strength today. The Bundy oscillated all through the game until St Johns scored twice near the end to come from behind. Auburn could have won this game and in terms of making the finals they probably needed to. Hekka Nanai was the difference between the two teams.

The Sydney Shield game was very strange. Auburn named a 7 man bench in the prgram but there was only 1 player there and he was supposed to be playing ICC. Moneh Elahmad went off injured during the first half and Auburn made its only interchange for the game.

St Johns led a few times during the first half and they had only 2 players on the bench but they did not make an interchange until 60 minutes after a 3rd player turned up and went on.

Then with 10 minutes to go John Joseph from Auburn walked off the field because Warriors found they had only 16 players for the Bundy so he played 150 minutes over 2 games.

Bundy ladder

St Johns 18
Wenty 13
Entrance, Mounties 12
Windsor, Cabra 11
Auburn 7
Burwood 4
Blacktown 2
Kingsgrove 0

Shield ladder

Wenty 18
Auburn, Cabra 12
Mounties 10
Hills 8
Guildford 6
St Johns 4

John Joseph didn't play, number 9 was Silipa Tuigamala who played both bundy and shield, as did Pat Templeman for St Johns.

Aurbun had 14 players for the match, Monah looks to have torn his achillies so they had not interchange players for about 55mins of the game. It ended up 62-26.

As Roland said Nanai was the difference, he had the best game ive seen him play, tore Auburns frindge defence to pieces. Auburn led 22-20 and a contentious penalty went against them which saw St Johns score from the next set. Auburn very unlucky not to win the match.

Went to the game yesterday at Begnell and really enjoyed the game. Thought St Johns were the better side and deserved to win but Auburn were a bit unlucky not to hang onto their lead with ten mins to go.

Good to see a bit of a stink too!

One question that's been bugging me, is where do St Johns get all their cash? I mean that don't have a big club behind them like the traditional JBC/BRC clubs, Cabra, Wenty, Windsor etc but they must be doing something right, I mean 9 from 9 so for this season and the other club without leagues club backing, Kingsgrove is really struggling.

Hoping to get there next weekend again when they play Windsor.
