BNRU were once again their own worst enemies in the first half. Poor D, and absolutely poor ball control in the first 20-25mins. Never owned the ruck, and continually trying to pass thier way out of trouble in their own 20m. Gifted Entrance 2 tries from that alone. Once they settled down, and played structured footy, they were strong. Entrance D is the best I've seen all year. Very aggressive. They're my dark horse for the title...

The no 24 from BRET made a lot of mistakes.

think you're referring to the halfback. Yeah, tends to go to the line too much and either dies with it, or throws a poor pass at times. These are things, that can be worked on, though, thankfully ;-)

Just heard BNRU will have 4 BRET players this Sun, same 2 from last game, and 2 boppers up front, incl Francis Tuigamala. Alipate Noilea, at 5/8 last game, will move back to his more favoured centre position with their regular half, who's been playing NYC, to slot back in alongside Marc Russell. Beau Bovis is also back from suspension. They should give St Johns a big run for their money with this side...

It will be interesting to see what St Johns have. The program is always wrong. Hekka Nanai and Conrad Taakemeoka both went off injured last week and Karl Filiga has played half a game in 2 months.

After the junior reps finished 5 boys from the SG Ball went into the Sydney Shield team but with all the players missing 4 of these boys have appeared in Bundy with Mitch Mamary playing the last 3 games in the front row!

It looks like ex NSW Waratahs back Arthur Little is again unavailable due to work commitments.

Round 17

Wenty 52 Mounties 22
Auburn 36 Blacktown 36
Cabra 40 Kingsgrove 22

Today
Entrance v Windsor
BNRU v St Johns

Mounties loss means that Windsor, Wenty, Cabra and the Entrance have all won spots in the semis so it is now a straight contest between Mounties and St Johns.

Entrance 24 Windsor 22
St Johns 42 BNRU 30

BNRU were given a blueprint for building a competitive Bundy Cup side today. With Balmain Ryde Eastwood having the bye this week in the State Cup, coach Paul Fletcher sent bench forwards Francis Tuigamala and Taiqele Naiyaravaro to BNRU to get another game under their belts.

These guys are Man Mountains. The only other player of similar size would be Pulu from Windsor but he has made only occasional appearances in Bundy; mainly playing State Cup also. Every team needs at least 2 big experienced props if they are going to compete at this level.

St Johns managed to negate this threat in the first half to put on 5 tries to lead 24-4 at half time but they used up a lot of petrol and BNRU stormed back into the game in the second half.

I thought Joe Flint and Matt Mulcahy also excelled for BNRU while Ratu Tagive and especially Junior Roqica had huge games for St Johns. Perhaps some of Juniors' ex Concord Burwood teammates spurred him on from the stands.

For the second week running Taakemeoka could only play the first 20 minutes and Hekka Nanai lasted about an hour before succummimg to his chronic leg injuries. Holo Tonga could not play (RU injury?) but St Johns did not need to play any of the boys from the SG Ball this week.

BNRU once again shot themselves in the foot in the first half. I think they should just sit out the 1st half and come on for the 2nd. They're mentally weak at times, the way they need to be behind, pressure off, before they start to play. I'm not sure if it's an inexpereince thing, some players just not being up to it, coaching styles, or a mix of them all. They certainly can play once they're switched on, though.
