After missing out on Vidal, MUFC and Supercoach LVG have a glorious plan B: Alex Song.

For a guy so sure about his own team, you come across as a bit worried.

If you believe everything you read we are on plan Z now. That or the media don't really have a clue. ;-)

A small amount of outliers greatly distorted our goals allowed tally. And we did it without any real holding midfielder in the squad.

Mertesacker, Koscielny and Gibbs are a great core to build our defense around. If we get the right RB to replace Sagna and most importantly a genuine class DM like Khedira I believe our defense will be good enough for a title contender.
But the outliers were you getting battered by the good teams around you. Maybe that says something about the squad in relation to the strong sides.

Mertesakcer isn't exactly young (almost 30) and quite slow. His lack of pace was exploited by sides last season. Bringing in a better CB would be a good move, as would a decent defensive midfielder.

LFC does not need to sign Suarez' replacement in one go but still needs a big signing to send a signal to its rivals. That big signing will be Benzema IMO given James and Falcao are heading to the Bernabeu.

Yes, 30-odd goals do need replacing but this is a defence that conceded 52 in the league last season. That number would be brought down easily in a starting backline that doesn't contain Skrtel and Flanagan (for the time being until he develops). You may not be able to replace Suarez' goals but you can improve your defence which is why the club is focusing on getting Moreno and Lovren.

If Benzema, Lovren, and Moreno come, then really the only weakness in the entire XI is Johnson at RB. You would then have a bench which contains the likes of Can, Coutinho, Markovic, Bony, Allen, and Skrtel, and suddenly we have more squad depth than we've had in the last few seasons.
Flanagan was better defensively than Glen Johnson. I'd be getting rid of Johnson from the starting XI first.

Hopefully Enrique can stay fit and play well.

I think not only defence but a proper defensive midfielder would be vital if we're to improve this season. Maybe Can develops into that sort of player.

As someone mentioned, wages are a problem, which is why we buy young talent who want the opportunity (eg Coutinho, Sakho, Can) or English guys for exorbinant fees (that can still be recouped).

Khedira to Arsenal is pretty much a done deal.

He could have gone to Chelsea but he chose to play with all his German mates.

Reports are also saying Chelsea are about to 'Willian' the Khedira deal from Arsenal.

If Arsenal pick him up they become contenders. Good window so far for the Voyeur.

23 million for a guy in the last year of his contract is pretty steep though.

I can't find any news of Chelsea trying to 'Willian' Arsenal. Chelsea have been in the race all along anyway.

Khedira would definitely be a game changer for Arsenal. Still not sold on their defence but adding a quality CDM can help shield the defence well.

Mertesacker and Koscielny were arguably the best defensive pairing in the league last season. As you though a world class defensive mid would be amazing.

Well it'd be hilarious if Chelsea did hijack it. I think I've seen more Chelsea news about khedira in cimparison to Willian. Chelsea just came out of nowhere with that.

I dont see how it would be a hijacking. He seemed keen on coming, but by all reports Arsenal do want to pay his wage demands.

Chelsea tried to get Khedira. They failed. They came 3rd, we came 4th. You plastic fans need to get your heads out of the clouds, you're not in a different atmosphere anymore. Over the last 3 or 4 years you've pretty much got as many points as we have.

And MUFC has failed in getting Vidal too.

If Khedira was indeed set for an Arsenal move, and then Chelsea came in and got him at the last minute, it'd be a hijacking.
