Jeez Novak played absolutely woeful though. How many 0-30 games on Stan's serve did the bloke choke away! Have never seen Novak shank that many forehands. Oh well it happens, glad I won't have to stay up long with the final to be a straight sets demolition job for Rafa!

This is one of those situations that shouldn't surprise you (because Stan pushed him to the limit last year in another 5 set thriller), but it also should because Novak again made a comeback. And after being up a break in the 5th set, he just... well choked!

Tough day for Serbia with 2 of their greatest ever tennis players eliminated on the same day. Now they know what us Aussies had to go through so often this summer!

Gee's it makes Ana and Novak sound old when I say that... lol they're still very young :)

I don't think Novak choked at all. You don't choke with the strong service game he played over 5, particularly in the 4th/5th. He was just outplayed by Stan.

All those 0-30 games on Stan's serve weren't blown by Novak. They were won by Stan. Consistently over 5 sets Stan produced huge serves to level it up and then hold serve.

After seeing Stan walk off practically in tears last year, it's so good to see that he's found the self belief he's needed.

Stan deserved that win. No one can argue that. I think after last years shattering lose, he dug even deeper to find whatever it was he was missing last year and it paid off for him. How Switzerland have not won a Davis Cup tournament with this guy as well as Federer in their team is beyond me!

Players shank balls all the time. You just don't notice it when they win the matches. Also you need to look at Stan's serving in those 0-30 matches. How many aces or serves that were unreturnable or easy put aways if they did get back over the net did he hit. He just didn't get any easy points from Stan when he was a chance of breaking

Actually it's not very fair of me to say that without at least linking to this article: http://www.daviscup.com/156561?channel=daviscupnews

Many reasons really. Stan has only in the last year or so stepped up as a real quality player whilst Federer has been slipping. Spain has the number 1 and 3 player in the world right now plus another 2 in the top 20. France has 3 in the top 20 including 2 in the top 10. The Swiss won't be able to beat either country in an away tie on clay. Neither Federer or Stan are real good doubles players and they will struggle to win against doubles specialists so that is a match they will generally lose each tie.

As long as Azarenka loses I'll be happy. Serena will retain her #1 ranking regardless. I swear if Victoria loses today, there is no telling how happy I'll be, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

No idea TBH. It depends on Murray's back really. If he is fully fit he should win comfortably.

If Fed wins the first set, watch for Murray to start having back or leg problems
