"Why are we going for child-skewed jerseys"... because children are a market and the club wants to get parents to spend $$$ on the jersey for their kids?

FMD it's basic business. Nice enough jersey, the Panther doesn't look that bad. Move on peeps.

I just think you can do this with the U20's jerseys, and parents won't mind forking out money for the kids versions of them if thats what the kid wants.

LOL

That Penrith jersey is terrible and made worse by having one if the worst logos in the league.

I'm struggling to think of sporting teams worldwide that have PLAYING jerseys specifically aimed at women and kids, care to help me out since it's "basic business"

But...but kids will only like it if it has a giant cartoon on it and women only like pink shit!

Its an easy 'excuse' for a childlike jersey

When fans consistently call for a modernised licorice allsorts strip, I wonder why they don't do it.

I guess they assume that the nostalgic fans are going to keep throwing money at them regardless of what they do, and they can capture a broader market by appealing to children (and their parents).

I like the pink, but I would have thought that a pink alternate, white licorice allsorts away, a chocolate soldiers heritage and a black primary would have been the way to go. Still, the black jersey needs tweaking. I honestly wouldn't have minded the rumoured gold trim, and the half-hoops haven't sold me.

Hopefully it looks better in person.

Warriors heritage is awesome, would be the first jersey other than my own teams that I would consider getting.

What they should have done was leave the panther on for the kids sizes and remove it for the adults in a similar vein to what they do with jerseys with alcohol sponsorship. That way they have the best of both worlds

Ding ding ding!

I wouldn't call it a faithful representation but it beats the fake heritage designs of the last few years. You have to admit that those colours really pop.

Most clubs in the NRL have had PLAYING jerseys designed specifically to appeal to certain markets. Doesn't mean they won't have general appeal either.

Sounds to me that people are trying to generalise their dislike of the jersey by dismissing any potential reason tbh. I'm actually starting to think people are convinced clubs want to design deliberately crap jerseys for the sake of it :?

I doubt if Penrith will wear the panther jersey much, its all about merchandising and the way to go I think. Instead of tinkering with the home and away jerseys every second year the team's third jersey can be used as the one to experiment with. If it sells - bonus, if it doesn't then next year they can try something different. Hardcore fans will probably buy one every year as well.

I don't think they do it on purpose. I think that a lot of clubs just have no idea when it comes to creating/maintaining a decent identity.

Why haven't european soccer clubs stumbled across this gold mine of slapping a cartoon character on their jerseys to appeal to kids?

They literally get new strips every year, including alternate strips that for the most part are of absolutely zero relevance to their clubs in terms of colours or design, and yet none of them have gone down the "paint a sweet animal on it" route to get into the child market.

The panthers white jersey looks like a perfect away jersey.... with a stupid iron on transfer plastered across the front. You can argue the appeal of the Warriors graffiti jersey as it at least looks like they paid someone with actual skills to design it, but the panthers one is atrocious

Regardless of your personal opinion regarding their designs, you have got to admit the Warriors do their jerseys well.

Any other team would have royally f*cked up with this design, but this excicution is absolutely phenominal. And this goes for all of their jerseys over the last few year, they all look clean and to the point. Just look at their heritage jersey this year; its a cut off V, but the sponser is just incorporated perfectly.

Even their old Fire and Ice jerseys; sure they were wierd ideas, but they were perfectly done considering what they were going for.
