It's a jersey for the kids Ffs.

They are targeting 3 demographics with the 3 different jerseys to maximise sales & brand awareness.

It makes perfect sense.


Personally I don't like it either, but then I'm not the target audience.

Yeah without the Panther it'd probably be better but I still think it looks good.

And I agree with the above poster when they are targeting kids with this one...and Gus even said as much on Twitter. "We hope your kids will love it"

Pink...obviously targeting mums and girls.

Black will always be worn by the guys that follow the team predominantly.

Will I buy this jersey, probably not...but still don't mind it.

EDIT: When looking at the comments on social media about it on Penrith's page and on Twitter...overwhelming response has been positive.

My wife has never really had a desire to buy a panthers jersey for herself she usually just wears one of mine when we go to games however she loves the new alternate and wants to buy one. So it may be directly aimed at kids but i think there will be a big market for both men and women as well depending on personal taste.

For me ill still be wearing my 2011 heritage (black all sorts) jersey to games next year but may buy 2014 home.

To sell more jerseys, especially to kids. Which helps build the brand and future fan base.

Excuse the terrible terrible Paint skills, but to illustrate my point, IF youre going to go with a graphic, I think it has to be largely a similar colour to the background so it doesnt look so obtrusive.

I don't mind it as a training jersey or even Under 20's but the Panther looks ridiculous as an alternative. They could easily have the most consistent design in the competition across all three jerseys.
