You are right, England deserve to lose the 4th spot. The premier league clubs have not gone well enough to keep a hold of it.

Mou getting sacked from Chelsea would be the funniest thing ever.

England deserves to lose a CL spot. I can see UEFA rejigging things soon enough to ensure the four big leagues get four sides each however. Can't piss off that mountain of gold in Asia.

Jimbo and I get along these days but I'd be interested to see if there's a meltdown from him

Haven't even played Bayern yet and already lost 2 games. We have to rely on Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb drawing after we lose to Bayern next

We probably won't even make Europa

We need to now make sure we don't get third. f**k Europa. The bonus of getting out early could mean less injuries and more energy at the back end of the season to give us a chance at the league.

Arsenal cost me my multi. Lesson learnt to never back the Gooners.

Back-to-back against Bayern would surely suggest they'll miss out on qualifying for the group stages for the first time in 16 years. Stranger things have happened though.

Beat Bayern at home, draw away, win the rest is their only hope... 10 points should see them through if they get lucky.

That's gotta hurt Moenchengladbach - to lead 1-0 and then concede and own goal then penalty!

Better hope the other three teams can keep that coefficient up so your customary 4th spot isn't lost to the Europa League ;-)

hope people realise how overrated the PL is. How long are PL teams going to be playing crap in the CL?

This is ignorant. PL teams are struggling because the PL is so good. There is so much depth in the league we can't rest players. Look at the caliber of players our 10-20th teams recruited over the summer. They have bigger budgets than some European CL qualifying teams.

I have no idea why Chelsea, City, and Arsenal are failing. With the squads they have, they should be doing better. United are still in a rebuilding phase. Things are slowly starting to come together. Our big money buys are certainly doing better than last season's crop. We should be able to make it out of the group stage at least, which is about where we are currently at.

Bayern could win most games with their 2nd XI. Same with the champions of the small league in places like Croatia and Turkey. You cannot do that in England. The 2nd and 3rd tier teams are just too good.

So there's the inability to rotate, the lack of a winter break, the fact we play 2 knockout cups.

It's a whole series of pressures no other team has to deal with.

Or it could be that whilst the PL clubs have been staying at a level of performance the other leagues have been focusing on improving to challenge them. The quality of football in Spain, Germany, Italy, France and to an extent Portugal has been on the rise in recent years. The motivation to 'beat' more fancied sides from the PL may also attribute to the results. Porto are no slouches. Juventus are hardly walkovers. The English clubs need to adapt and conquer the challenge or face losing their 4th position.

The 3 best teams in the world are outside England. But the 20 premier league would be in the top 50. People just have no idea about the size of budgets. The caliber of players even relegation candidates can bring in, the scouting networks. All those mediocre european teams who are beating English giants would be ruined if they had to play week in and week out in England.

True, but in the context of one-off league games where these results are happening, the 'lesser' sides want these big scalps. All sides lift when they play Barca, Bayern etc, same for the PL sides.
