In Australian Open I reckon either Radwanska or Sharapova will win Women's.

But my smokey to win it is Bouchard.

Serena Williams doesn't look that fit to me at moment and seems to have lost some pace on court.
She could still make Qtrs though.

Serena looks no different this year then she has any other year. She will rightfully be favourite and I think she will win it.

In the mens I would love to see Nishikori win it but it will probably be Djokovic. Nadal is probably still the best player on tour but who knows how he will go with his body

Stosur is one hell of a headcase. She needs to invest in the best sports psychologist money can buy. It is amazing how bad she is here compared to the rest of the world....you can see the nerves drain the poor lady.

Serena is certainly off...but history states you NEVER count her out. I've seen here in much worse condition and form that at the moment and yet win a major. In the old days, she could ease herself into a major....it is getting harder though as womens depth has improved a lot over time. Radwanska is no chance, Sharapova and Bouchard are every chance. At the moment, I rate Sharapova as favourite but that will change if I see good form from Serena. If they met in the final, I'd back Serena hard though.

Sam Groth and Jarmila Gajdosova are also scheduled to play today.

Groth is 1st round match and Gajdosova 2nd round match.

George lost first round, early exit for the big server. Hope his form picks up next week in Melbourne. Better luck for his ex-wife Gajdosova who is through to the 3rd round after defeating last years Aus Open runner up!

She will be fine, like most players she used the Hopman Cup purely to get miles in her legs so to speak.

Brilliant effort from Jarmila Gjadosova tonight. The best I've seen her play. Kvitova won in a tight 3 setter with very big hitting. Just took over 2hours.

4-6 6-3 6-4.

Good effort in the tournament with Gjadosova defeating world no 13 Petkovic and world no 11 Cibulkova.

In good form going into the Open. Hopefully she gets a favourable draw and she can keep playing well.

LOL she will probably lose 1st round, typical brainless ball basher. I wouldn't be praising beauting Cibulkova and Petkovic who have barely won a match in 5 months!

We have a young Aussie trying to qualify for Melbourne next week. Maddison Inglis (not related to Greg) from WA just turned 17 yesterday (yes, born in 1988) and she's qualifying today.

She jumped rankings quite well (318 places) from year end 2013 to year end 2014 - from 1109 to 791.

If they hadn't won in 5 months they wouldn't be 11th and 13th in the world.

Like Azarenka who hasn't won because she has been injured and she is now 40th in rankings.

Hopefully she qualifies would be a massive achievement.

You mean born in 1998.

Tomic plays Muller from Luxembourg tonight.

Tomic has played him 3 times and has lost all of them.

Will be a close match. I reckon Tomic can do it in 3 sets.

Tomic's sister Sara is also playing in the quallies today at 16. Pretty sure she was in them last year too at 15.

In Sydney I'm picking a repeat of last years final in the mens - Del Potro vs Tomic. Who knows what will happen in the women's none of the last 4 have stood out but would like Pironkova to go back to back after qualifying.

Yeah Petkovic and Cibulkova haven't been in the best form for a while now including bad losses in Brisbane but she did also give Kvitova a scare so she could make it to the 3rd or 4th round if she gets a kind draw in Melbourne

Petkovic, Cibulkova, Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic are my favorite 4. I would be happy if either of those 4 won in Melbourne if an Aussie girl can't win it... but sadly, I can't see it happening :(

Agreed depending on her draw.

I reckon if Gajdosova plays her best she could take out a seeded player at around no 20-25.

Ivanovic at her best could make it into a quarter or semi final before she bows out.
